The only stupid question is the one not asked.

Hi All.
The fact to nurse a baby is actually not a problem because this is so natural and ... normal! The Scott's view is not shocking. I think that's a question of culture to accept or not to see a mother nursing, more especially, in an audience. it depends on our education. Don't you think? Emeline |

I can't believe some of the responses in that thread-- the ones where the guy is offended or thinking it's bad for other children to see. Wow...calling Dr Freud! Seriously, one, they need to grow up and become actual men; two, it's none their business, whether it's in the front row or right under their nose! The woman was being a MOTHER!
Typical smarmy, emotionally stunted, male magician stereotype. I'm embarrassed to be among them after that nonsense. Maybe you girls can bring this art form up a notch and save the world from the "magician as pathetic dork" phenomenon. very sincerely, Bert Posted: Aug 2, 2008 10:39pm I forgot; Emeline, yes it has a lot to do with education-- in the area of what Daniel Goleman calls EQ or emotional intelligence. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. be well Bert

Very interesting topic. My opinion is that there's nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public, just cover up, try to find a private area. Same thing while in the show...you gotta breastfeed....ok....cover it up...simple as that.

That thread had me rolling! Too funny. I could care less if I saw that. I also respect ones opinion for not wanting to see it. Whatever. Too many other things going on than to worry about a boob or two....
Good laugh though. Thanks! |

Lots of women in that position are concerned with their husband or companion looking at them only as a mother for while.
If I had been a bachelor in that performance position, instead of looking at her breastfeeding, I would have looked at her eyes to know her frame of mind. If I had been a married man, I would have enjoyed the poetry of the relationship. Thus if you are looking at things as a male or as a parent, things may look different. Now one question: why did she choose to do it there in public, not even aside? Isn't this type of mother<>newborn relationship of an intimate nature? Did she needs to show off something? How would anyone know if she is proud of her motherhood or if the choice of place betrays a desire to remind that she has attractive female attributes and doesn't wish to be looked at only as a mother? Does anyone has the capacity to know with certainty and without projecting his/her own prejudices? Can we know for sure if even herself had one clear motivation one way or another?
