I love the build your own illusion section. I made the bunny box and it has worked fantastically.

I learned my entire sponge ball rountine from this book when I was 9 or 10, I still use it to this day. The ball through pocket is a very nice illusion only found in this book, I haven't found it anywhere else.

You certainly won't have to apologize for using effects from the Mark Wilson Course. It is a great reference and teaching book for many of the classics of magic. To beginning magicians, it's all new. To accomplished magicians, learning to do the classics well is how other accomplished magicians will measure you.
When you go to magic auctions, you'll see two categories of magic, valuable props made for performing classical magic and the "stuff" that somebody thought was "new" until they learned classical magic. MWCC is a great start! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I still dip into the Book any time I want to look for some-thing specific for a client. Some want different themes, like a rabbit party with all the tricks showing rabbits, carrots etc.
Things like the build your own .... instructions and routines like genii/out for lunch are easily adaptable to lots of needs. The routines are good starters for card outines, cups and balls, sponge balls that you can then adapt when you become fluent. The best £14.95 I've spent in magic.

The difference is that the newer version has an extra chapter entitled "Reputation Makers", and there are some good tricks in that chapter. One way to quickly tell which version you're getting is by the number of pages. The older version would end around page 471, the newer one about p503. I say "around" and "about" since some people count the blank pages at the end, or the unnumbered pages at the begining of a book. I heard something like he added the extra chapter to regain his copyright - but don't quote me on that. Regardless, its a great book, and unlike one of the posts, there is nothing "cheesy" about this magic. John

Highly recommended. Remember, above all else, presentation, presentation, presentation and did I mention presentation?
