Ive been able to make a dog since I was 12 (im 25 now) when I found a packet of balloons and a balloon animal book in my xmas stocking at 3am, I remember hearing from my dad, "whats the bloody screeching!!!" its a dog dad! **** off back to bed son!

anyways since then ive made a dog everytime someone has a balloon! but dogs are rubbish, I'm now goin to try and improve and start properly as a balloonist, ive read a lot of posts and I have an idea of which dvd I think will be a good starting point but I'm not sure on balloons

looking at a website for magic it lists loads of different balloons, different numbers letter colours!
which is the standard balloon which I can start with and learn from there please!

For most balloon animals, you will use 260 balloons. The number refers to the size. 2" wide by 60" long. (Thats inches for those of you from across the pond). Get a few bags of the different assortments (of colors) and maybe a few special shape balloons (hearts, bee bodies aka 321, or blossoms aka geos) You will find the colors you like and can order them by themselves. Sometimes it can be a pain to find the color you want (The Carnival assortment seems to avoid this problem)

The letters after the number (ex 260Q) refers to the manufacturer. Q=Qualatex B= Bellatex. The smaller balloons (160) and the larger (350,646, etc) are used too, but usually in multiple (4+) balloon creations.

Hope this helped

TMeyers is one of the better suppliers out there. Starting out, I would strongly recommend "Captain Visual's Big Book of Balloon Art" It will take you from a beginner to an intermediate twister painlessly.
I have no vested interest. Don't personally know the author or anyone else connected with the book, just know that it's a keeper.

I always struggled using the books but to be honest they were books as part of $1 sets, I thought dvds would be easier as you learning along side them

I was thinking about balloon school or leflers no 1 dvd as both have good reviews, the lefler 1 though is cheaper and I could get an assortment of balloons to go with it and still be cheaper than balloon school, but balloon school is 4 hours and says it teaches everything!

cheers for the balloon info, make it easier to understand now,

I have balloon School and I think that it is awesome. A lot of the balloons take some practice to remember how far to fill them up to all the way down to the twisting but a good 3/4 of the balloons I tie are from that dvd.
