I can't recommend Bobo enough. I would start with Bobo and then move onto Roth and Kaufman, as has already been recommended. You should work through the first two chapters in Bobo every day for the rest of your life.

I think the principles of coin magic are pretty applicable to many other types of magic. You will learn about angles, misdirection, and sleights which can be used with rings, balls, whatever.
