Stunt. He's not the first person to do it, and he won't be the last.

It was the real deal. And A & E hated that episode. Women didn't like that episode, so Criss was told that there would be no more of that kind of thing on Mind Freak.
It is interesting to note that the other episode that A & E sent a note about was the one with a blindfold drive with Mandy Moore. People wrote in complaining that driving while blindfold put other people in harms way! And women didn't like seeing Criss spend time with another woman! Go figure. |

It was obvious he used a TT. My question is did he lick the hooks before using them.

Heh heh... this thing will never die, will it? Most suspension folks use de-burred shark fishing hooks. They are already stainless steel (used for saltwater fishing) and are weight rated at over 1,000 pounds!

Nipps you are a wealth of information! Sweet! I still plan on purchasing two torches when money is better. When are you there? Thursdays, right? PM me back.

More information from my fountain spewing forth: a "Sky Hook" is a term used by builders and engineers to describe an impossible lift. Basically if you have no crane to operate a lift, they would say "sky hook it", which meant use of a helicopter. Sky hooks are also used as a term for the little wood chunk with a notch in it for holding a belt while balanced on a tables edge.
Oh, and Martin, the torches you liked are $30 each.

Suspension regardless on how many times you watch it on TV is defiantly not the same as seeing it live.
I saw the Wingnut suspension crew perform this past weekend at the Des Moines Tattoo fest. (and hung out with Rob Hill and The Enigma) But there were some variations on how to do it, and make it into a good show. (it's not the stunt, its all in how you make it yours and memorable by the show) |

It was definately real. That is the sort of thing you just have to suck it up and do.

Critter, I have no idea who you are, but you've already given out bad advice about glasswalking at this part of the Café'. None of the sideshow stunts is something "you just have to suck it up and do". There is a right way and a wrong way to do EVERYTHING in the world. DO something the wrong way and you end up hurt, injured, missing a finger or two, or even being killed. Suspensions are done in a PROPER manner, evaluating weight distribution, hook placement, depth, sterility, etc. It is obvious that the people who do this didn't just say, "Hey let's stick some hoooks here and there and lift you up. Why do you look worried? Just suck it up and do it!". It is also obvious that you have never done suspensions or any pierced weightlifting. Heck, I even wonder if you have ANY experience with sideshow or any of the torture acts.

Suspensions Creep me out,
Watched a Demo and the suspendee we will call him "Dave" almost died. It is not an illusion but I would call it a rare skill that would have to be learned probably over time. The incident where I was present "Dave" was suspended and I was told too much weight was on one hook and it tore out a huge piece of his Buttock. Next thing I know I am working to stop bleeding and keep him from going into shock. Needless to say I think it would take a huge mix of Talent, Skill, and for lack of a better word Balls to do something like that. |

Why Nippulini, you are the one that said that you can't go into shock from suspension so why on earth would you be jumping on the bandwagon of my comment that it requires training now? You seem to think it is perfectly safe, whereas I said it wasn't several times on the other topic.
All Sideshow stunts are simply done. That is quoted on several sideshow sites. The way they are done requires practice. What I was emphasizing is that it is not a trick.
