I am not sure that this is the proper place to post this but I am sure that I will be directed as necessary.
At the IBM/SAM Convention last week I saw David Williamson perform a wonderful trick that he called the spelling trick. The effect was that the cards (Ace thru 10 I believe) were taken by the magician. Whenever the magician tried to spell the card, such as the Ace, the seven would be in it's place. When the cards were handed to the spectator, the card was spelled and the correct one was revealed. This happened until one card remained, you guessed it, the seven. (I hope that I am explaining this properly). If you are familiar with it can you tell me where I can find it? He mentioned that it was published a few months ago in Magic magazine but wasn't sure which one. Are there any other references for it? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance! |

This routine can be found in Williamson's Wonders under the title "He Who Spelt it, Delt It". The updated version can be found on his Lecture DVD. I didn't see it advertised on his site.

Bill Goodwin and Ray Kosby had some ideas for this that were published in a letter to 'The Looking Glass' magazine - a great magazine put out by Ricard Kaufman.

I was able to borrow Williamson's Wonders from a friend of mine. It is packed full of great ideas and routines. Thanks again to all of you! TK |

I was looking through some other threads in this All in the cards section and came across another source for this effect....It's called The Uninvited Joker from Scarne on Card Tricks....This version uses 13 cards
