1. When is one half of ten equal to five, but one half of nine equals four, one half of eleven is six, and one half of twelve, seven?

2. If the third is JAS and the fourth is OND, what are the first two?

3. N W H O I I E I I E - Ten letters - what is the eleventh?

4. Starting from a square, what's the quickest way, using a compass and a straightedge, to create an isosceles triangle (a triangle with exactly two sides of the same length)?

Tomas got them all, but sent them to me in e-mail (Tomas, you got the right basic idea on 4 - create a diagonal along the square using the straightedge. The compass was just there to throw you off).

I'm amazed Tomas was able to get 3, as that seems to be the toughest one for people to solve. Can anyone else get it?

Sorry I didn't repond sooner.

Philemon got it - the eleventh letter in the sequence I gave is "L". I know Philemon can tell me why, but can anyone else? Hint: The next letter in the sequence, after the "L" is "W".
