Congratulations on having the guts to put your promo here under fire.
I agree with most of what has been said in this thread but I'm not a specialist in that field. Thus by exposing your video you allowed people like me to understand the issues from both your obviously serious work and from the posts criticising it. Thank you for opening such an interesting debate knowing that your promo would raise criticism.

I'm not looking to be antagonistic, I just want to point out a potential issue. This video says to me: you spent a lot of money in a magic shop and a lot of money on a video guy. I don't know if you have original effects or presentations, but if you do I think that's something you should highlight in your video. What seperates you from the competition? I mean no disrespect nor do I mean to attack you. I have a good feeling that your show is impressive, and that you are a talented showman. I only feel that the video didn't emphasize that. I agree that quotes and voiceover will be a great addition. If you don't have a voiceover guy picked, my money is on Scotty Matthews. http://www.ScottyMatthews.com If you tell him I refered you, he'll more than likely cut you a great deal.
Best of luck! |

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree about client listings in a promo video.
A client listing in the video is a very good way to build prestige and define your experience. What if your promo video is the only promotional material the potential client sees? What if he or she is watching more than one video? That video becomes the "audition" to go to your site for more information. If you are against it because of the cliche format of a scrolling list of clients, you only need to break out of a mindset and see some other examples. To get your creative process started, I'm posting some links to screen captures of videos I've produced. All include client lists in creative ways. (I also include client testimonials in most of my videos). If you want to see the entire videos, they are all posted at Reels in Motion. ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope this helps! Scott P.S. I am hosting these images off-site of the Café for protection of intellectual property from the Café's Copyright "Agreement." All the images linked to in this post are fully the copyright of Reels in Motion and no authorization is given for re-use in any form.
