This is a true story and why I don't work bars anymore. I was working a strolling gig at a grand opening for a bar. The place was so dark and so loud that I had to cut out everything in my repertoire unless it could be done without talking and was very visual.

So that left me with two things: Vanishing lit cigarettes in my bare hand (TT) and Card on Ceiling.

With card on ceiling, I had to yell loud enough to get them to sign the card. The ceiling was easily 20 feet up, so the effect was killer. For those who perform this, you know that when that deck comes back down (I use a rubber band to keep it together) it hits pretty freakin hard.

Well on one of the times I threw the deck, it went straight up and left the card behind and came straight down and went right down one of the female spectator's shirt.

Somehow it made its way down her shirt gently and without hurting. The look on her face was true astonishment. Let me first tell you that my material and my act are pretty squeaky clean and I don't do "blue" material, so I was a bit embarrassed.

She thought it was all part of the trick and that I had planned it. The landing was so smooth and graceful. It's as if the deck of cards had a mind of its own and gently floated down her shirt. Very strange indeed.

Needless to say, I told her that she could either keep the deck or she, herself, would have to retrieve it for me.

Hehehe that is so classic. I am still laughing. Gives me a great idea for a new thread.

It was just the weirdest thing. It was so smooth and so "controlled" looking. It was really quite funny. Good thing there wasn't a jealous boyfriend there to get ticked off at me.

I am just so surprised that the cards falling from the ceiling would land in a ladies b;louse so smoothly. That in itself is a magical miracle. Did the lady start laughing or what was her reaction? What was your initial reaction. lol I would have laughed and looked at her and just delivered some comedy line like, "hey.. it's magic! Now either you can get the cards out yourself.. OR you could have me do it.. But somehow I think me getting the cards would be a WHOLE different trick." or "Mam, I do not mean to alarm you but you just made a deck of cards very very happy." lol

Her reaction was genuine surprise.
a) a deck of cards just landed in her shirt
b) it was gentle
c) in her mind: "did he do that on purpose?" "How?"

My reaction was mild embarrassment and slightly apologetic. I made no jokes (don't do "blue" material... not even "light blue")

The only thing I could say was, "I let you get that."

From a purely technical and platonic view point, it was a thing of beauty. It seemed totally impossible. I was just as surprise as she was... very strange.
