It's been said that a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged!
Well, I still consider myself a liberal, but I have in fact been mugged. Dragged into an alley (technically, a garage driveway) beaten to a pulp mugged! I tried to get a little bit in, but I was too off balance. I did get one of the guys and drag him down with me, ripping his t-shirt in the process. As they went for my wallet, I said; "I haven't got any money, stupid!" That seemed to settle the situation for them, they got up and left. My favorite moment (if you can HAVE a favorite moment in a situation like that) was the first guy looked back and said; "You #$%%&, you ripped my t-shirt!" How sad. I wish I'd had the skills to rip out your heart and show it to you before you die! (Before it's brought up, no I do not wish I'd had a gun!) Six hours in the emergency room told me what I already knew, swollen nose and bruised ribs. At least I got off better than the guy in Central Falls who was beaten to death.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that! I witnessed a mugging, my friends and I were walking back from the corner store one day. A young guy, around 16, came up to one of my friends and told my friend to "give him his chips". My friends refused, at which point the guy started beating him, stealing his chips and pop in the process... I ran into the store to get the police called, and when we went back outside, the guy was finished and running away. We had to attend a court hearing 9 months later.

Sorry to hear you were mugged, happy to hear you are ok.
Were you really without money, or did you get away with a bluff on that?

Glad you're OK, Ed. I hate hearing stories like that. Hope those guys get what's coming to them.

I've not been mugged but I've been pick pocketed a number of times in South America. I only got even one time, bashed a skull in with a big ol' rock and stole the money back along with what they had on 'em. I'm sorry for you, hopefully the fellow will get hit by a train.

I don't know how hard core. I use to drink a lot and wasn't a nice guy, I wasn't a thief, but I was some what of a thug.

Sorry for that Ed. Must have been those radical share the wealth ultra lefties at work. But jokes aside...terrible situation. Glad you made it through.
My daughter got a call the other night from a neighbor that there were a couple of thugs messing with their Jeep. The Motorcycle had recently been stolen and vandalized and the house ripped off of a gun collection as well in another robbery. However this ended well as two VERY Pizzed off people (Daughter and husband) exited the house racking shotguns and firing into the air. The two punks hit the dirt and stayed flat till the cops arrived and gave them a ride. They were about 15 and stupid but understood the results if they had tried to run. Daughter is also well schooled in martial arts and both she and husband are proficiently expert in fire arms...Daughter currently is in Avionics but was prior USCG Boarding Crew who pulled law enforcement duties by climbing (armed) onto foriegn shipping and rousting a potential dangerous crew. Husband is also well trained...both are Petty Officers in USCG. The guy next door is the brother to the sherrif that showed for the robbery calls and the other houses on the cul de sac are also well armed. I say all this because it's important to understand the level of stupidity excercized by today's criminal element. One would think that experienced criminals probably have made the bargain with the devil that they risk getting shot but these youthful ones seem to be just too stupid to think that they may be messing with the wrong folks.

Someone came up to me and "tagged" me with a right (no bloody nose there, the guy punched like a pansy). The cops took a report, but I couldn't identify them so there's not a lot they're going to be able to do.

Sorry to hear about the mugging. Was intimitated and punched often as a kid, so took up martial arts and that ended all the issues at the time. Still pursue learning with the latest interest being Wing Chun kung fu and it does give you some self-confidence, if the situation ever arises. Some of these techniques can cause some major damage, so would have to be "gentle" if ever used ;-)
