I have been posting some old Thayer Magical Bulletins on my site and I got a laugh from the March 1919 issue, which had a cover photo and story of the Los Angeles Magic Society of Magicians' Ladies' Night, with not one woman being shown in the photo or mentioned in the article. In those days it was the fashion for the men to put on a magic show and invite their wives and women friends to attend so they could show off for them.

It got me to wondering... have times changed? Is there any magic club that has a Ladies' Night that consists of a show put on by their female members? I've never heard of one, but I don't get out much.

This is really food for thought. I'll try to get the guys in my country to organize a ladies night and have only female magicians performing. We do have quite a few ladies involved in magic over here. Should be a very different event, I suppose.

The SAM National convention a few years back did just this and it was really a great show. They also did a session or lecture with a panel of esteemed female magicians and it was really well attended.
