Hello Stan:
The construction of a good magazine is a very complicated work, your magazine is a very good one... Can you offer some details of the people behind the magicians and and talk a little bit about the technical work, facilitties etc of Magic Magazine? Thanks, Hansel!

Hansel...
MAGIC Magazine has offices near the airport in Las Vegas. It's a two-story building, with more office space than we need (but that eliminates the need to throw anything away!). Four people work full-time on it, as well as a few others part-time. Florence handles all things dealing with circulation, keeping track of the mailing list, renewals, and making sure magazines get to subscribes. Krystle deals with the circulation of copies to our magic shops, as well as coordinates all of the advertising that appears in the magazine. Chris is our Art Director, and he's responsible to make everything look good, then make sure it gets to the print house on time and in the correct digital form. Alan Howard is our Associate Editor, mainly responsible for feature stories, but because he works in the office, his desk gets loaded with other elements of the magazine. (Alan also publishes and edits JUGGLE Magazine for the International Juggler's Association.) Steven works a couple days a week around his college schedule, and he handles most of our IT problems and developments, as well as video and PowerPoint for Live! and research and writing, a bit. Gabe works part time from Chicago, mainly handling "Marketplace" and some of the feature stories. Plus, of course, our columnists and writers, who are scattered around the world. We print and mail in the mid-West, so once the digital files leave our office via one big PDF, we don't see the results until advance print copies arrive, about five days later. I hope that answers your question. Stan |

Good luck with your studies. I wished I had taken journalism in school; it would have come in handy!
