I have been a lurker here for a while, but I have never posted. I figured it was probably time to share some since I have learned so much here.
The IT department at work was about to throw out some old equipment and I managed to salvage a few mouse balls. A little looking on the forum here and an internet search and I found the info I needed to make some monkey fist balls. This is my first attempt. http://i395.photobucket.com/albums/pp31/......fist.jpg |

Nice job
After much soul searching about a signature, I decided not to have one.

Thanks. I should clarify that while this was my first attempt, there were several false starts that had me unwrapping them and starting over. On the very last ball, the very last loop to pull tight, the lacing pulled out. It was a &^%$# to get it back through. It involved a pin, a pair of pliers and a lot of blood when the sharp part of the pin went through my finger and tore back out all in a fraction of a second.
Usually, I am doing metal working and I always say if it doesn't have some of my blood on it, I didn't make it. |

Not bad. How long did it take to make the set?
The best I ever got was about 10 minutes per ball.

Thanks guys, really appreciated.
Frank, I didn't time it but it was definitely more than 10 minutes per ball, though by the last one, it wasn't so bad. I probably have at least two hours into them. I could definitely do them more quickly next time around. |
