I was called today about performing at the Homestead Family Evenings about 30 min from my house. I would be working from 5-9 and there would be a lot of people. I would be, more or less, the house magician.
My question is what should I charge? Should I charge $250.00 for the evening? I normally charge $125.00/hour so it would be half-off. Is that fair for the summer? Thanks for all the help! -Casey |

Casey, it really depends on the situation. Discuss things with your employer, how many guests there usually are, what he wants you to do, etc.

I try to make about $3.00 per guest and a minimum of $100.00 for a 20 minute show.

Around here the goin' rate is about $125.00 per hour with a two hour minimum. So $250.00 is OK if you want to invest a couple of extra hours to firm up the gig. But they need to know that they're gettin' a great deal at that rate. Are tips involved? You might do pretty well if the tips are good and the waitresses pretty.
