I was really disappointed in Anytime Anywhere. The magic wasn't all that strong. Nothing real special in my opinion. Sankey has much better dvds than this.
On the Spot is fantastic IMO. Great routines, real world stuff, and strong magic. Much more recommended. |

like paperclipped?! Well, there was a thread not long ago discussing this same matter. The thing is that Alexander De Cova, a German magician with very clever ideas, in a video of a lecture at Ron McMillan's, performs an effect based on that switch and he claims that it's his, not Sankey's. Supposedly, he showed it to Sankey. It seems that he included that effect on the tape only to claim its originality... I don't know whose it is, but as most of you, I've always identified that technique with Jay Sankey, specially since he performed that effect for me in one of the first lectures I attended (about twenty years ago) and I still keep that card until this day.

I have On the Spot and think it's good. There is a totally different presentation style so it's maybe a matter of taste.

Wow reading these posting has been intresting. For my 2 cents worth Both Sankey and G. Wilson are great magicians. I have both DVD's (On the spot and Anytime Anywhere) Both are good but I like On the spot slightly better mainly because the effect are tested in a real world enviorment. I'm glad I have both and use routines from both.

OK this is on sale at Sankey Magic for $17.99 now. After reading this thread now can I not buy it for that price. Now what about 22 Blows to the Head? It is also on sale now for $17.99. I thought I remember hearing great things about it as well.

Yes, 22 Blows to the Head is a great disc. Lots of really good stuff on there. There is some filler, but just as many or more gems. I'd take the plunge if I were you.

I thought that 22 blows dvd was more about mentalism effects.

OK I got this DVD yesterday (Anytime Anywhere) and I am blown away after having only watched the first 9 effects. For $17.99 this was a great deal. I feel like a fool for spending so much money on so many one trick DVDs by Jay like Holy Moly, Leaving Home, Dough, Killer Key, Mercuring and Omnilope. Don't get me wrong, I really like those effects. In fact I have Leaving Home on me right now. It just that Anytime Anywhere is packed with really killer, usable magic effect (if the first 9 are any indication of the next 25) and I paid under $20 for it! A guy like me (not a professional) could just get this DVD, learn all the material on it and be all set for years of doing really great magic for his friends and family. I am very excited about watching the rest of this DVD and learning as many of these effects as I can get into my head. Not to mention that I also bought 22 blows and Kaleidoscope at the same time, so I still have to them to look forward to.
One word of advise to any beginners out there though. Anytime Anywhere is listed as an intermediate skill level DVD and it is. Many of the slights used in these effects I had learned in more detail on other DVDs (like Jay's Revolutionary Coin Magic DVD). Jay does go over them again in this DVD but not in as much detail as he has in other DVDs which is just perfect for me, but a beginner might be a bit overwhelmed.

Partial Knowledge (if I rmbr correctly, the trick with three kings) is a favorite of mine. It's crazy to some audiences.
