Although this is an English name, I don't know how the trick is called by English speaking magicians.
There is a (prepared) "cloth tape measure", and the magician gives the spectator a piece of string/rope/cord and she measures it. Let's say it is 89 cm long. Then, she cuts off a piece of 10 cm and burns it. The magician never touches the cord, but after a magical gesture the spectator measures again the remaining rope, and it is 89 cm again. This performance is a little bit (no more than a little bit) boring, but I like the idea. Has anyone here already seen a clever application of this magic prop? Thank you! Angelo |

This effect sounds familiar, but I do not remember where.
Does anyone know if this effect has been published or is sold in America? Thanks, ACE
