I wonder if anyone out there can help me.
I use a set of 8 x 4 ½" linking rings, but they are getting rather sad looking; chrome wearing off and not as round as they once were. These sets used to be very common, but now I can only find sets of four rings, and my routine needs the traditional set of - key + 1 + 1 + 2 + 3. Have tried web search, but no luck so far, and I'm sure someone must still supply them. |

Just by 2 sets of the 4 rings, and take them to a welder in your area to cut the rings and make you a set. They can buff the welds out once they're done so the rings will be seamless. Should run you less than $50 for a set so small.

There are a number of vendors selling a "full" set of eight rings that are 4" in diameter. I don't know about the quality, but here's a link (no pun intended):

It reads 8 rings. James requested 8 rings.

That's what I mean - the picture only shows 4, but the description says 8.
Sorry, it was a comment on the ad, not your link. |

I would be just fine with just 4 rings for a very long time, I think. Thanks to Brother Lyle, I am coming right along with my Ninjas. Oh, is there anyone other than Shoot who can do the one-handed link consistently? How exactly must one hold his mouth to do that, I wonder?

I can do it about 89% of the time. Not quite every time, but if I fail the first time, it seems to create more impact when I get it the second time. If I miss more than three times, I throw the rings on the floor and ask the table if they're ready for their check.

I'm about 90% of the time, as well. It doesn't matter if you miss.
Like a juggler, it adds some tension. That's all. And it's important that you always do try it at gigs; otherwise, you'll never get close to 100%. You have to do it under fire to improve. I did it with my eyes closed last week for the first time at a gig. Not sure what made me do that. I'd never tried it before at a gig. Luckily, it worked the first time as well. *phew*

I am hitting it about 30%. When it works, it feels like I should be able to repeat it easily. It is just like when I hit the driver, only 1 out of 3 will be long and on the fairway. Occasionally, I can still make par hitting out of the woods. I'll keep hacking away until I get it, though.

Hi James,
I got a set off eBay UK for under a tenner. seller: shop4magicdave I have to say that they are not even in the same ball park as the Ninja Rings for feel or quality, but they work (!) and are ok to keep in my bag for the regular practice sessions. PS - great DVDs. I've just got vol. 1 to complete the set and am working hard on the diagonal palm shift. |

Frank - a good point about performing under fire (the one-handed link). Do you find your misses tend to occur in phases?
