I've always prefered tails, couldn't tell you a good reason why, but tails is my choice. Think you will probably get a 50/50 response.

Depends on the picture; usually heads, but for things like Irish or Australian Pennies, tails.

A tails shell allows you to perform with multiple coins even if they are different dates/mint marks. The discrepancy probably wouldn't be noticed anyway, but why take the chance?

Of course if you use 64 Kennedy's that's a moot point....

Or there are 2 ways around it... one, get a custom set from one of the gaffers out there. 2. I've never heard of anyone being caught by dates, so I guess just perform for real people and don't point out the date... On my old set it actually helped because the dates were 1901,1904,1906,1907.. the [ was 1906... so for the last coin I would tell them to check the date and hand it to me, then vanish the [ and reveal the coin in their hand.

Clad Kennedy's :tails I have a lot of older(70's) coins and don't want a shell that's not even close.

As long as the shell matches some of the coins I usually prefer heads. I agree its not likely to matter.

Liberty heads.
Morgan heads.

If I used tails, I think it would feel upside-down, like I would keep wanting to turn them over or something. Makes me feel itchy!

When I show coins during a show I think they look better with the heads up so I use heads. Plus with the back being more "elaborate" it tends to keep people from noticing the slight diffrence between the shell and the coin. IMO

I agree with space cop--coins look "better" heads up so I try to display them that way...

Heads it is...
