I just moved to NYC Sunday and finally got up the courage to do a little busking. I did a few card tricks a mind reading trick and then closed with metal bending. I had 8 people and made 7 bucks. That was my first experience I will keep you updated. Man it takes balls to actually just go up and do magic for people lol.

The first set is always the hardest. Keep doing multiple sets. It will get easier and easier. The more you will do, the more you will notice you are taking control.

WOW, some of you are very insensitive. Here is a young man who wanted to share his BIG day of busking and some of you put him down. Why not just encourage him and move on. Personally he did a wondeful job and should continue to BUSK. He needs more encouragement and a little fine tuning and he will do just great. Please remember in order to put someone down or critisize them you must make two positive statements first and then you can lightly offer your opinion. He is young give him a chance. What did you make your first day busking when you were that young? I bet not much but you did gain some experience and that is what this young man did as well he gained some valuable experience.

I wasn't putting him down...i was going to encourge him...this is what I was going to say
so you made $8 not bad for 10 minutes of work...i know lawyers that don't make that kind fo money.....so heres my suggestion to you....DONT STOP keep working .... I encourage "new" guys to try to do 10 minutes to 10 or 12 people and make $12 to $15....if you can do this and you can do 4 an hour....thats pretty good money $50 to $75 an hour....NOT BAD... heres the real truth about this...its better to do 10 great minutes than 20 mediocre minutes .....go out and do it....DONT STOP...its an amazing gift Koz |

Way to go man. The first time is the hardest. I remember being scared to death and having no idea what I was doing. At least now I'm not scared anymore. Keep at it.

Thanks for the support. I will be going out again this week. It's a very fun thing to do. Some people love to watch others could care less it's funny to see the faces of people when they are curious and then when they realize what's going on some stay some go either way it's fun. I tried two sets. 1 didn't work the other did. So what can I say at least I did it.

This is just another example of why I don't post much here anymore. You try and help a guy out with some solid advice and somebody who has no idea what you are talking about jumps in and kicks sand in your face. I knew EXACTLY where you were going with your first post but then again, I'm a busker. I really don't understand why some people have the incessant need to attack people over topics they don't understand. The presumption and self importance is often overwhelming. I don't get it. Danny, the next time I give soem advice or encouragement I'm going to get paid for it! REDICULOUS! we have had this conversation many times dan and this is EXACTLY why I don't talk on this board...I"m a guy who made a great living doing this for 20 years...i know what I'm talking about....i make more money than all the other guys who post on this board WAY MORE! except maybe bobby maverick who was a student! these guys follow the guy who talks the loudest or the most...and that's ok....he will soon tire of this behavior and diasppear too!
