I recently went to Disney and while I was there, I got this wizard style hat (with mouse ears). It is blue and pointy, and has gold sparkly stars and a cresent moon on it. The best part is, there is a switch on the back that activates about 20 yellow LED lights all over the hat, and the stars, the moon, and the ears all twinkle. Anyone have any imput on a way to incorporate this into the show? Its just too cool to leave out.

Why not just put it on a volunteer and then, when he or she makes "the magic work", activate the switch and set the lights to twinkling.

When I do a show for kids, I put a wizards hat on the volunteer like Peter mentioned.
The kids live it when I put it on them, and they love it even more when I put it on the parents. My hat doesn't sparkle when the magic happens. That is definitely a cool special effect. If I had such a hat, I would be tempted to find a remote control for the switch. You could go into a truth detector comedy bit with one of the parents and get alot of laughs.
Magic is fun!!!

I agree Let the assistants wear it, When you put it on them turn on the lights, when you take it off, turn them off and tell the they're full of magic because the hat lights up when they wear it.
I use Practical magics wizards hat, every assistant wears it during the show, and when the last one (the birthday kid) finishes their bit of magic they find a 36" rabbit happy birthday silk inside. Sorry guy's it's not really a magic hat, it's a change bag

Here are a few nearly normal ideas from the top of my head.
I have to slow down as it is getting a bit thin up there. 1. Production of an item from fruit, baseball, small puppet... 2. Chosen card appears on top or as in number 1 as a production item. 3. If you happen to also get a mickey mouse hat you could rig a spring to have a chosen card pop up on top or side of the ears. (This may be a Karrel Fox idea??)) Harris

you can quite easily go to a model store and by a remote control circuit that operates a switch, they start at about 20.00 but you can get them up to 100.00 but make sure the control is small, if your ambitious you could make a wrist or ankle switch
