I had an interview today for The Age newspaper. One of the biggest papers in the country and they want to do a story about ME for the backend. (the backend is the coveted back page of the front section of the paper.) It was a BIG deal for me.
I put together a KILLER shell game routine that captures both essence of the game but also the essence of my character. It begins with the reporter choosing a shell and me asking whether "you'd bet $50 on it?" The victim says "NO" and then I launched into a complex piece of patter about the psychology of gambling and how money makes as doubt ourselves which leads into a complex multiphase, multilevel, battle of wits with every last moves and bit of psychology thrown in! The citizen cane of shell games! However, today, when I asked "would you bet $50 on it?" She pulled out her purse and slammed the cash down on the table and turned over the shell! She lost the money within three seconds and whole thing was done! I wish all of my spectators were that brave! |
