I know you don't like to toot your own horn but let's hear.
Random acts of kindness. Do any lately? Could be anything... When you do something random and kind for others, doesn't it make you feel good? |

Who said I don't like to toot my own horn....
A few months ago as I was entering a local chineese take out place a guy in a wheel chair was coming out. I held the door and he thanked me, I then said "no problem, but I would not have held the door if you weren't in the chair you know". Lucky for me the guy had my sense of humor, he laughed and I helped him get his chair into the car. One of those things I probably shouldn't have said. |

Every now and then I give my wife my intimate attention. Then I come back here and get a beer.

A couple of weeks ago, I had two extra tickets a couple of rows behind the Mets dugout. The people we were going with had a death in the family and couldn't make it.
I asked a guy walking off the 7 train with his 8 year old if he wanted the tickets and he said "how much". I told him nothing. I think he was trying to figure out what the scam was but ended up following my wife and I to the gate. We get to the seats and the kid asks his father where their seats were and he points to the sky. The kid says "so these are better"and the Father says "oh yeah". Turns out it was the kids first game. Not that big of a deal but it made my wife and I feel good. |

I don't do acts of kindness and if did I wouldn't tell.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.

The ultimate random act of kindness is where you remain anonymous after such an act IMO!

While I'm not a teen any longer, being in my 20's I still fall under the Instant Gratification classification. That said, I'd be willing to bet that you'd be hard pressed to find young kids from your generation running around doing random acts of kindness and expecting nothing in return including recognition while they were in the midst of their budding hormones. People, from every generation, grow out of that Now, Me phase and develop these values. I believe, pending you count for population increase, the amount selfish pricks in the world is about the same percentage wise.

Michael,
If the shoe does not fit, don't force it. You will just end up with a lot of self-inflicted pain.

I did a couple of nice things recently.
But it kind of kills the buzz if I brag.... |
