Hi!
I've been lurking on this board for a few months now, and I think it's great. It really comes the closest to feeling like a community, rather than just a discussion list, of any magic board I've seen. So, I thought it was time I went from lurker to known entity. Here is a brief bio: I was into magic in a big all-consuming way from the age of about 6 to the age of about 16 or so. Then my interest gradually faded, and shifted to other things--science and philosophy, for instance. Less than two years ago, at the age of 35, I had been doing an after school science club at an elementary school, but was getting tired of it and looking for something new. I decided to dust off some of my (by now twenty year old) magic stuff and see if I could bring my skills up to at least what would be required to do a magic club for the kids. Well, the club was a great success; the kids had a lot of fun--some of them may even develop an interest in magic. In addition, however, it had the side effect of re-kindling my own interest in magic. I have been completely re-infected with the magic bug (in fact, it is probably worse than when I was a teenager). I am still in the process of re-defining my magical identity--things have changed since I was sixteen. In any case, I do hope this board can be part of that re-defining process. (Incidentally, Hank Lee deserves some credit for bringing me back into the fold. All those years I was out of magic, they kept sending me the Hank Lee's Extras (catalog supplements), even though I never bought anything. The Extras came to my parents, of course, but I would look them over on visits, and it helped keep me feeling remotely connected to things even while I was not really doing any magic.)

Hello and welcome Allan,
Let me be the first to welcome you to the Magic Cafe. It is good to see that you have found us here, as well as your way back into magic. It has been said that if you leave magic and then find your way back, that it gets you even more on the return. It has been that way for me (and I enjoy every bit of it!!) So enjoy your visits here and visit often and post, post, post away!!!
Cheers,

Welcome Allan,
And I second what Thomas said, it seems that on the return trip - we have a whole new level of energy for this thing called magic. SOunds like you have a good chance to fire up some young imaginations! Must be a pun in there somewhere, but it is late so I will just say that we are happy to have you join us! BroDavid

Hi there!
I agree Peter -in fact, it was also my theory or mutual- no known cure has been found to the virus of magic. But you are mistaken you are not bitten twice only, the virus was in a sleeping position waiting to come to life when you were weak , Anyway, welcome to the Cafe. But let me remind you you are at the edge of another addiction, that is this Cafe. Wait and see .
Magically Yours,

Welcome aboard, Allen.
Our paths are somewhat similar, as I was heavily into magic from gradeschool through high school, then went on hiatus during my college and grad. school years. Now I'm back! I hope to make it to Toronto someday. I hear it is a beautiful city. I'll bet they have a great magic show (or 2).
