Interesting. The one I saw had three rows accross and were not as stacked/linear as Salbys. It looked better then this. I wonder if there are multiple knock offs or if it's being hand assembled overseas?
The moral of this story is, you get what you pay for. The Jam Miser Pro is excellent, well worth the difference in price for what you get. |

Thanks Salby for taking the time to show the REAL rip off on the you tube.
I ordered 2 of them and got the same results (lights directed towards the center of the bag and lights overlapping each other and my switch would not work each time the button was pushed) plus my battery compartment and circuit board fell off the board! I did try to redirect the Leds by bending them and after 2 tries one broke off so I don't know how many the other guy had to go through till he got a whole board spread out to fill up the bag. I compared it to the original Miser's Delight and found the lights not as bright either plus the switch on Bag o Lites was very loud with a double "click" and the Miser's Delight was virtually silent. The lights on the Miser's delights are hand focused on each board as it is being manufactured so the customer does not have to try to move the Leds. The cascading of the leds are definite and it looks like the lights are falling into the bag not a light just coming on in the bag. We are investigating the legal solution to the fact that they used our original board in their video demo that has been sent to all the internet shops to sell their product. We are sure that their is a case for fraud there. We will keep interested parties updated by pm.In their second you tube "demo" they accidentally pulled enough of our board out that we could tell it was ours. I feel these remarks do fit in the "review" catagorie because people need to know that what is being advertised probably will not be what they get as in Salby's review. |

Thanks for the comments. I know I exposed the board (even though I stated I wouldn't). I got to thinking that Gerald showed the board on his review and there was no commenting of him "exposing it", so I thought again... ...Since he showed the board, I felt it was neccessary to show and explain that his board seemed to be tampered (LED's spread out), whereas mine was not (LED's perpendicular to the board). Again, NOT what you actually get and/or able to perform without using a different product or tampering with the product at your own risk. Once again, BEWARE OF MISLEADING VIDEO DEMOS!!! .
You know how to make God laugh?........... Tell him your plans!!!

The Ad copy supplied to the dealers from the distributors was indeed fictitious. There was an effort by someone to make the Bag-O-Lites look better than it really is. They used Dave's product for the video clip. The ad copy itself made statements that were exaggerated. Shame on the distributor that did this. We have removed the bogus video clip and changed the ad copy for the Bag-O-Lites.
I am willing to offer full credit towards the Miser's Delight or Pro X for anyone that bought the Bag-O-Lights from Madhatter. We did not know at the time that the ad copy was falsified. |

Sometime when I have the time I will tell the Café an interesting true back story about this product in particular. The high quality Jam Magic one is far superior.

Hey Guys,
I was reluctant to do the video, because we sell it and it would be seen as a bias review. I would not have done the review, if I did not think the product was good. I think the product is great. In my review I say things that I don't like about the product and things I do. I think it is funny that just because I like it, it is considered bias, but if I would have bashed it, it would have be an honest review. My job is to sell stuff, but I do have integrity and Salby makes some good points. Here are the facts: 1. I taped the gimmick to the back of the bag. That keeps the gimmick from falling forward. It stands. Salby kind of showed this on his video. If he had taped the gimmick to the bag, it would not have fallen over. Even without it secured to the back it stood up. Although, I do like the idea of it leaning forward and then back, but that would take some extra practice and thinking. I also think that a lot of magicians will not set it down. They will come out with it in their hand and when finish, place it back under or in a box. Maybe have an assistant walk off stage with it. Lots of tricks are used as walk ons and offs. Having it sit in plain view at the start or finish is only one way of doing it. 2. I taped an extra piece of paper bag in the top half of the bag. I did not use the instruction's ideas. Make the trick yours, come up with other ideas. How about a cherry tree bag and the lights, light up around the tree branches. 3. I moved the lights on the gimmick to get the desired effect on the outside of the bag. I stated this once or twice in the video. I never tampered or modified the board, as I don't have those kind of skills. I just bent them where I wanted the light to shine. I would be careful when doing this, but I don't see why you would have a problem. If you can use a solder gun, you could always fix one if it broke off. I spent no more then ten minutes setting up my bag o lights before doing the video and it was the first time I even played with the gimmick. I maybe spent three minutes adjusting the lights. 4. When you click the button it must go in all the way in. Not the click sound as that does not mean the button has been pressed all the way in. I also said that on the video. 5. The instructions are horrible, throw them out. Don't really throw them out, but the extra bag idea does not work. I know the manufacture is working on new ones. I will suggest that they take up the issue of light placement in the instructions and how to bend them. 6. When I found out the board we are shipping and the video that we shot were not the same, I removed it from our site. In magic you want to deceive, but not that way. We will have a new clip up when I can. Maybe someone with some experience can make a cool demo? We only have a few videos and it is still really new to us. 7. I removed my video review, as I did expose the gimmick. Magicians that are using it, asked for me to take it down. I would ask Salby do do the same after a week or so, so others have a chance to see his video. If you would like a copy of the video, I can email it to anyone that wants it. Just PM with your email and I will do it for you. I don't have a problem with Salby's review, this is just my review. And by the response that we are getting, magicians are very happy with it. Magic takes practice, if you think you're going to pull this out, stick two batteries in it and be David Copperfield, your not. You must practice the button control, timing, presentation, how you would use it, stage, close-up and most important adjust the lights where you want them. As with most great magic, adjustments need to be made to your liking. Maybe use two D'lites or more... You can see in my video I could do the trick, but I was not good at it. Salby's concerns about light placement is ligament and you may want to tweak yours a bit, but that does not make it a bad product. If you could Salby, try and move them and do a new video and maybe your mind will be changed maybe not. And I do thank you for correcting your statements about the red lights and being able to stand it up. Thanks, Gerald |

Gerald K,
It is nice to see you "come clean" on some points admitting that you had to tamper with the lights to get them to fill the bag which does risk breaking them as you admit. Also you say that according to going by the instructions the bag will not work. Also you admit the bag that is on the video demo is not what is being sent out. Now finish coming clean and admit the bag you used (or whoever did the video that is being used all over the internet to sell bag o lites) was indeed the JAM MAGIC Miser's Delight. Which does NOT have to be altered to work perfectly. Whether it was you or Frankel or whomever used our product to attempt to copy should be admitted. And the rip off is not the quality of JAM MAGIC's Miser's Delight as has been stated by customers here on the Café. Since this is a forum to review products it should be clear that the "Bag o Lites" is inferior in manufacture, effect, and handling, to the original Miser's Delight". |

Just ask yourself, do you want a $35 junk drawer item or the real deal worker prop that has all the bells and whistles? Miser Pro X is 4 times more expensive and 20 times better, will last longer, has awesome customer service and it's not in a nappy lunch bag from McDonalds [sheesh] James

I just received my Miser's Delight Pro X and all I can say is this thing is AWESOME! The IR works perfectly and effortlessly ... I really feel like I'm tossing lights into the bag. The construction is clearly first rate workmanship and I was off and running in no time. I immediately recruited my 16 year old son to watch (who thinks he's seen it all) .. he had a huge grin the entire time and laughed saying, "OK .. you got me there."
Dave Mitchell could not be a nicer guy to order from. He replied promptly to all of my emails and was terrific on the phone. This is my second order from Dave and, as a customer, I couldn't be more satisfied. These are the kind of folks I love doing business with. This is definitely a packs small, plays big routine. Needless to say I love it! Dan. |

Can someone comment on using these in a close-up or parlor situation? An earlier post pointed out that the original is better for close up as the pro has to be "open"? Thanks in advance!

Hi Hart,
I will answer per my opinion. I am the owner of the original Miser's Delight (The one Bag O Lites ripped off) and the Miser's ProX. Either could easily be done in a parlor setting as long as the audience sight line is below the top of the bag. Whatever claims made by the bag o lites being able to be shone empty by allowing the audience to look into the bag is FALSE. They even admitted it in their video after it had been on the market for a while. To be honest, they had not even tested their own instructions. You cannot allow the audience to see down inside the bag. As long as sightline is above the audience you are OK with Miser's Delight or the ProX. I wont even adress the bag o lites because it is junk. (IMHO) I would suggest the original Miser's Delight for close up over the ProX because it is smaller and can be carried around and controlled in a close up situation easier than the ProX. pm me if you want more detailed of an answer. Well I should have done more research before I made a purchase. I purchased the Bag O Lights. Should be called Bag O Crap. I didn't know it was a rip off copy.
When I got it home and tried it one of the lights didn't work. So I returned it and tried the next one before I left the store. It too did not work properly. The third one did. I took it home thinking I had the one that you see on the demo. I was WRONG ! The one on the Bag O Lights video demo is the original JAM Magic version being used to sell the rip off version. So now I'm stuck with a Bag O Junk. Can't return it. There's nothing functionally wrong with it. It's just pure crap! I'm going to order the JAM Magic version and I have learned to do more research before I purchase anything again. Buyer Beware !!! |

Murphy's Magic Supplies is the exclusive wholesale distributor of the Miser's Delight Pro X. We had been offered some of the various rip offs but chose to hold out until we could support the original and the best. When you contact your favorite magic dealer to get this amazing item make SURE you are getting the original Miser's Delight Pro X. It's a great item.
