At the end of the article, it states this about the author:
"Justin Shilhanek is a Freshman Psychology and Spanish major." Based on that information, I can only hope that by the time he is a senior, he matures in his spiritual growth ...or moves to Spain... Lyndel |

Got their attention, gave them the Gospel so what's the surprise?

EHHHHHH...I'm not sure I will swallow the whole Indian-marks-on-the-forehead reference in this article unless I had actually seen the performance. Seems a bit too farfetched. And if the sponsor was so unnoticeable, how did he know it was there? And how vague is the term "Campus Crusade for Christ?" So, he only enjoyed half of the show... $2.50 for a Tim Kole performance... not too shabby.
By the way, I was a psych major myself. It's a prerequisite to walk around insulted and appalled. |

I don't believe the facts stated in the article. Having had the pleasure of attending one of his performances, what was stated in the article would have been a major break from the way Andre stages his show.

I myself have been to an Andre Kohl performance...I was younger and didn't even remember a message. I did get a autograph from him that had a bible verse but that was it.
I guess I was just a bit shocked to learn this may have happened. -Seeker

Andre' was off the road this particular tour because of a bout with pneumonia. It was the first time in all his years of touring that he missed a performance due to health issues.
His son Tim was on the tour and performed the major illusions. As the article explains, one of Andre's assistants filled in for him during the spiritual portion of the show. What was shared during that time was not the same "script" that Andre' uses. Terry

Hmmm....title of the thread a little off but.....
I too have been to an Andre Cole program. The time that people were allowed to leave was during the intermission where everyone got up and took a break. This was also announced at the beginning of the show so it came at no surprise later in the program. Andre came with a message that was filled with solid biblical truth and did not dive into any theories on the mark of the beast. Although, Andre's message seemed like it was not scripted as well. In my personal opinion, the message went a little longer than the average attention span of the audience. (But there were also decisions made at the event!) I respect Andre and his family so much for what they do and the sacrifices they have made to spread the gospel. AND AS IN MAGIC.......it is not what really happened but what happened in the spectators mind........so even if not all from the story was true.....it is true to the spectator and may need attention from the Cole camp. |

Since André was ill and unable to attend, I have no doubt that whoever filled in for him during the Gospel part of the program presented the message differently than André would have. After all, our testimonies are "our" testimonies, and not necessarily someone else's. I don't know whether "Rosco(e)" was someone who travels with André, or whether he might have been a local pastor/evangelist who was brought in to present the message. If the latter is the case, then the story could definitely be (at least mostly) true.
The Bible teaches us that the Word "cuts like a sword". It sounds like this is an instance where it cut pretty deep. I only hope that something was said (and heard) that the blogger can draw upon someday when he realizes that something is missing from his life.

The title of this thread is misleading too...especially since it wasn't Andre' that said it...but I still find it hard to believe that Tim would have let a significant part of the program be taken as it was made to sound in the article.

This is just another posting based in Christian bashing that we see here from time to time.
The "offended" author would likely have no problems had the person spoke of drowning polar bears, how much of an idiot George Bush is, or any other left wing cause that are preached at Gospel on every major College Campus. Perhaps, he now knows how others feel when they have to listen to their agenda. In truth, you have to be pretty dense not to read the posters, see who is bringing the show there, and know there is going to be a message. |

Although you may find the title of the post misleading, I don't.
If it happens at your show with your name on it, then its your product and you take control of the beast. It because associated with your name and it as if it comes from you mouth. that's my thoughts on that. I agree that the person may not have taken the time to look into the event. But you also need to look at why the writter was offended. I don't think it was about there being a message in general. Or any kind of spiritual guide, but more of the extreme nature the speaker took. If you do read the comments on the article, he (the author) does post and say all was resolved and part of the resolution was the group saying they were not aware of the speakers radical view point. So who didn't look into what they were doing. Those who booked the speaker, or those who booked some tickets to see the show? -Seeker

I don't know if they visit the Café, but I would be interested in hearing from Tim or Andre. So many times I think we as Christians feel we should avoid the gossip and "take the high road." I think we should speak out more. Just my 2 cents (before inflation.)

The more I read this thread and the blog that started it all, the more I'm not sure that we are getting the whole story from the blogger. I read somewhere that the person who presented the message was a long-time Kole associate. Assuming this is accurate, I find it hard to believe that he would have presented the message in such a "sledgehammer-between-the-eyes" fashion as the blogger indicates.
I think it's an example of someone using exaggeration to make a point.

"Radical" "Extreem"
Please define "radical" or "extreem" for me... I suspect the views held by the writer are quite "radical"and "extreem" to a great many of us. |
