Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a review of the Lipton the giraffe figure from Axtell. It looks like it may do the trick for what I want it to do. With it just being a head and neck how visible is it from a distance?

Hi Ryan...it's got a very big head. As a vent will you have it coming up from a box or something?

I can imagine a giraffe sticking his neck out of a small box...and that would really be funny Smile

You can't go wrong with an Axtell puppet Smile

I do have many axtell products. Most of my budget at kidabra went to Steve. Plus when I got home I ordered another two figures. I envision the giraffe's head coming up over my back drop. My fiancé and I are putting together a school show and one night I was just laying there in bed and the thought came into my mind that it would be hilarious.

Do you see any problems with this? Is it large enough to be seen in this situation by hundreds of kids?

I do the same thing with my sheepdog puppet. He peeks up over the top of the curtain before I come out with him. I pretend to be having a hard time finding him. He looks around the sides as well. He is miniscule compared to the giraffe Steve makes, and the kids can always see him.

I think doing this with a giraffe would be a stitch ! YOu could really take your time making hi rise up from behind the curtain. The slower you go, the more the kids will have time to see it.

And Steve's giraffe is perfect....

Thanks Mark, I just needed confirmation more than anything. I have spent so much money in building this show and still a lot more to go. I don’t want to be throwing money after an idea that may not work.

Anymore thoughts on this idea?

I think that creates a perfect illusion of a giraffe behind the backdrop...specially if the top is tall enough, meaning the height is proportion.

At my birthday show tonight, I tried the peeking bit with my new Wanlu pelican.
The cool thing about him is that his neck can really stretch !

At first, he peeked around the side of my curtain, then he peeked over the top. He stayed there, and his head began to rise, his neck streching to full length, then he opened his mouth wide, and believe me, he has a BIG mouth ! Then he bobbed his head like he was laughing.

The kids were practically wetting themsleves laughing !

The whole time I was doing this, I kept calling his name, like I was having trouble finding him. He then acted like he heard me, and turned to look down behind the curtain. We then made our entrance.
It went over big...

I had another thought...

What if the giraffe appears first, rising slowly above the top of the curtain, then he discovers there is a decorative tree or bush in front of the curtain, leans forward, and starts to try to eat the leaves ? The kids would see all this, but you would be oblivious to it.

I have worked so many places where there were extra fake trees and bushes in the room, and sometimes I drag them up on either side of my curtain to frame out the staging area. It wouldn't necessarily have to be a tree. It could be a bouquet of feather flowers you recently produced in the show, or something like that...
