Hey Andrew,
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. I remember when I first shared this with Andrew he immediately mentioned an idea for performing this on TV. Where basically the performer would go into an old record store (Vinyl type) and have a spectator choose any record they want. They are then handed an erasable marker and they write down a track number onto the wrapper of the record. This is shown to everyone and then erased. The performer can then have a look through the songs and immediately tell them which one they are thinking of. Since then I have developed a similar routine for when I perform close-up. I don't really give away my presentations on the DVD as I feel most of you are more then capable of creating your own, but here is one that I use when I perform in restaurants and it kills. You basically start off by handing the spectator a menu. They then look through it and think of an item that they would like to eat. They are then handed an erasable marker and told to write down the number of their item on the menu. (Most restaurant menus are laminated so they will be able to erase it after they have shown it to everyone). After they have written the number you take out another menu and have a look through it. Eventually you take the marker and circle one of the items. They name what they are thinking and you show that you were correct. This is just ONE of the many applications you can come up with. I used to only perform this at parties or in school where notebooks were very handy. But, since then I've created many different presentations that allow me to perform this in almost any venue. The menu idea is only one way to make this a very practical table-hopping effect. Just one point that I would like to make is the fact that this does NOT need to use erasable marker or anything like that. I only use erasable marker in that one routine because it makes sense. But, when performing on normal paper the method is the exact same. Well, hopefully these ideas will get you started in creating your own presentations. When this is released I am sure you guys will start creating some crazy routines. Matthew Mello |

Do they have to just write down numbers?? Can they maybe draw a picture, or something like that? Thanks!!

I rarely use this technique for drawing duplications, but it's not restricted to only numbers. If you read the ad copy they suggest other things that you can do with it. Using numbers is just my personal preference.

Not limited to just numbers... I've used it for various things from Truth/Liar routines, a book test, zodiac sign divination's, and a drawing dupe routine.
Lots possible, it's really just down to you and how well you learn the 'Technique'. |

Hi Matthew,
Can the spec write a word or two? Can drawings be a little more complicated than just a square or circle (e.g., can the spec draw a house with trees surrounding it)? Regards, Steve

I wonder if you could (or would want to) combine this in some way with Rick Maue's Imagine....?

As I see it, you would be able to combine it with Andrew Mayne's Third Eye. Making it a 1-2 spectator miracle effect. It seems like a lot of effects would be a lot cleaner with the use of "Technique".

How much will it cost to construct the gimmick?

Is it a direct hit every time, or is there some pumping involved?
No gaffs, impromptu and you never see the writing leads me to that question. If no pumping what so ever and all the statements are true, then I would not edit the demo, as this would truly be ground breaking. Not saying if it does use some pumping that it's not good, but if no questions to the spectator are needed then I will be one of the first to pick this up. If this seems to bold of a question I understand and can wait for the reviews. Im sold on UI, but need more info on this, as nothing is for everyone. |

There is no pumping involved. After the spectator has written their thought you know it immediately.

Do you watch the spectator as they write their thought? I see the ad says you turn away.
