This is an official invitation to the owners of Smart Ass to join in a collaboration effort/contest to collect the best routines, techniques and approaches using the Smart Ass deck. I have already had at least half a dozen performers contact me directly with their original plots, handlings and scripts using the deck and have been motivated to put together a book of these ideas together.
Basically, the best of these ideas will make it into the book (I'm the judge!) with the winners getting full credit for their ideas in the book, a free copy of the book and a smart ass replacement pack. Please e-mail your submission, with contact info. Looking forward to your ideas! Sincerely, Bill Abbott |

Okay, that might be tight for some people. (lol)
I'm hoping to put everything together at the end of October, announcing the winning contributors during the week of October 20-24. BTW there is no "minimum" or "maximum" on the submissions. I've already been given some fantastic solutions to "minor" things that will be included along with other complete scripts, so please submit and submit often! Cheers Bill Abbott |

Thanks Ken.
Daffy, Here's the ad copy and link to the demo video: Effect You place a jumbo card face down on a chair without revealing it's identity. A participant is invited to sit down on the mystery card and is shown a deck of shuffled playing cards. You explain that they will use their subconscious to deduce the identity of the jumbo card they are sitting on. The spectator cuts the deck into two piles and places them in either hand. They are asked to toss one half away and keep the other. After they do this they cut the remaining cards into two piles, holding one in each hand and they once again toss one pile away and keep the other. Down to the last few cards, the participant chooses one card, having the opportunity to change their mind several times. They make a final selection. With their final choice in hand the spectator stands and picks up the jumbo card, to find it matches their selection EXACTLY! SMART ASS Considerations: Perform SMART ASS close-up and surrounded. Perform SMART ASS for large audiences. SMART ASS packs small and plays big. SMART ASS happens in their hands. SMART ASS takes seconds to reset. Perform SMART ASS naked (if you need to). SMART ASS can be suitable for all ages. SMART ASS uses no equivoque or magician’s choice. SMART ASS uses no switch of the jumbo card, deck or final selection. SMART ASS uses any borrowed chair. SMART ASS Package Includes: Deck of specially constructed Bicycle brand playing cards. Jumbo Card for final revelation. A DVD that features... Performance of the routine. In-depth instruction of the routine and method. Professional scripts in PDF format that can be accessed by any PC or Mac. Demo Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcdaZDXDAUw Cheers Bill |

It’s a combination of routines that us who have the deck have put together and shared with Bill. Since my submission I have three more routines I do with the deck in different shows. I am sure this will be a big hit once on the market, I know I can’t wait to see what others have submitted.
Stay tuned folks...
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Ken, Floyd, Andy, and Friends (sounds like a folk band!)
Thanks for the continued (and patient!) interest in the Smart Ass book. Things are rolling along slowly but steadily towards completion. Right now I am in the midst of completing the writing and shooting for the book and a possible DVD addition to the book. It has taken longer than anticipated due to late submissions from several contributors, a hectic schedule on my end and the launch of my new product site http://www.billabbottmagic.com I also have taken some time to let many ideas "marinate" for awhile longer, try many more of them out in the real world and bounce still more off a couple close performer friends who had a lot to contribute. The result will be a better product with very concise and informative tips, ideas and full-blown routines utilizing the popular Smart Ass deck. I hope to have a more definitive listing of contents in the next two weeks. Creative energy is not something that punches a time clock so although I regret not keeping to my own personal deadlines and the ones I have posted, I am more excited about having ideas included that will hopefully exceed expectations and most importantly you will use and add to your performance(s) of Smart Ass. Sincerely, Bill http://www.billabbottmagic.com |

This is a fantastic piece of magic just as it is. But to be able to read all the great ideas others have come up with all in one book? Man count me in on getting this gem when it comes out.
Good magic to all, Eric |
