Coin One first method is diabolical. The filming and editing of this DVD is the best of any instructional productions. Artistic, clean, no unecessary talk, easily understandable.

I bought Coin2 from a Café member and really like it. It brought a whole bunch of new moves to me that I'd never used before.
I bought Coin1 from a Café member. It arrived. I put it somewhere. I've never seen it since. I've literally been looking for it every day in March. I cannot find it.

Two years that CoinOne has been released, I was wondering if there are some nice new handling variations of the original moves... I mean... ideas making the routine more angleproof?

there are several people that have worked out some good alternative moves. See Covert Coins for some. Charlie Justice has some really good work. The handlings for Cointwo are all over the place. The routine has been in workers hands for years in the form of extroydinary which came first. Check out Chris Korn's videos for handlings and notes by Eric Jones and Kranzo. eric has a great new video on his handling of it that makes it a whole, complete routine. Yif, to answer your remark, I doubt any handling variations will substantially make CoinOne more angle-proof, as the routine is inherently angle-sensitive because of the b**ck cl***ing. I can't see any way around this problem regarding the angles, except if you get rid of this very technique, in which case it will probably remove a good part of the directness of the routine...
Moreover, in my humble opinion, this routine is best performed with dollars for visibility and clarity reasons BUT at the same time it makes the routine more angle-sensitive than performed with half dollars for instance. I played with this routine a lot, and under the right conditions (small audience, stand-up and very close to you), it is a real killer. However, as Homer Liwag himself states it in the DVD if I remember correctly, this routine wasn't designed to be for the everyday worker but more for the people who wants to see "something more"... I find CoinTwo to be much more adapted for the conditions under which I have to perform, as well as more memorable because it is at chest level...so your audience is enjoying at the same time your magic, and you. Isn't it what it's all about ? |
