A huge magic cross-reference...ohmygawd, they digitized Max Maven!
But seriously....'Elite' and a metal shiny 'classy' logo. Could it be standard tricks in a less proppy looking way? Like high end versions of Tenyo tricks? Or...another digital transmission/control device - heck could use the iPhone. Mentalism is still kinda the bandwagon, and two people involved are heavy on the remote electronics/programming side. The price of these gadgets could sure justify the time and money spent. K |

Its original Swedish title is Ansiktet, which means "face", and it was released theatrically as The Face in the UK, although video releases have used the U.S. title. The film stars Max von Sydow as a traveling magician named Albert Vogler. Reading reports of a variety of supernatural disturbances at Vogler's prior performances abroad, the leading townspeople request that Vogler's troupe provide them a sample of their act, before allowing them public audiences. The scientifically-minded disbelievers try to expose them as charlatans, but Vogler has a few tricks up his sleeve. The film was distantly inspired by G. K. Chesterton's play called Magic which Bergman claimed to be a favourite of his. Bergman actually staged a theatre production of "Magic" in Swedish at one point ;) Mike |

"never been done before??" In the world of magic that's quite a sweeping statement.
Well....my personal HOPE is that it's some sort of.....something that allows you to lev more than 6 inches off the ground. Or mabye a type of synthetic fire which dosent burn flesh, and can be held, thrown, twisted etc. How about a remote-controll version of the time machine....someone else could actually hold it while they announced the time Ooooor....since I'm just imagining here....some sort of 'memory foam' (like in "Batman begins") which is formless until a small electric charge is added and then it snaps into a solid form....ENDLESS magic possibilities!

Hello all:
Well it is my time to chime in here for a little bit and give my thoughts about our exciting project! I’m sure that I can speak on behalf of Steve and Peter when we say that we are so flattered by all of the feedback and comments (positive and yes, negative too) that everyone has been giving! WOW! To generate this much excitement on something is not only a testament to all of the hard work that the 3 of us are putting into this project, but also to all of you for your enthusiasm for what is very-soon-to-come. So first let me say thank you for all of your thoughts, comments, flattery, and imaginations (I think that my favorite so far has to be the “memory foam” idea from The Mighty Fool; that truly would be AWESOME!)!!!! I will secondly echo some of what Peter said, and that is that (a) we are committing huge amounts of time and money towards this; and (b) this has NEVER been done before. I would also like to add that very few people know what it is that we are working on. However, when those in the magic community (who do know) were finally told about it, they literally “flipped out”. One of them who is VERY WELL known in the magic community actually said that they thought that when it was up and running, that this project would be “go down in magic history” (I’m not sure if I think that it will be THAT big….but what the heck do I know! Lol). Needless to say, we are quite confident that this will do very well, and will receive great feedback—but still it was so nice for all of us to receive this affirmation from our colleagues in the magic community! The project involves something that so many amateur and professional magicians would definitely say that they wanted for a very, very long time. I think the funny part will be when the project is finally revealed/released very soon: so many will make the connection to the first ad (“What the magic world has dreamed about for half a century”), and have one of those “I could have had a V-8” moments where they smack themselves on the forehead and make the connection back to that ad….lol Like anything, this project will most certainly be affordable for some, and not for others. And as well like anything in this world, it won’t be for everyone…but we think that it WILL be for many! Our objective is to try to make this project appeal to amateurs and professionals, and I have no doubt that it will. In regards to the secretive nature of this thread and the puzzle pieces…Well I think that for many of us we don’t like the “secret” part because we are magicians. Although we deal in “secrets” everyday of our lives, we don’t like being “fooled” or “teased” by others! Lol Anyhow, we made a conscious decision to market the project the way that we have, and as Peter said we think that this “hype” as some have referred to it as will be worth it in the end. Thank you for your time and interest. Best regards, Jason Palter Paltergeist Unlimited (416) 410-5766 |

My guess some type of lybrary or a way to research effects. I don't think it's a trick or a prop. I think the real tell is when peter say "historical".

Well, if it is some kind of 'knowledge base' or search facility then it wouldn't be anything new or unprecedented. CARC is doing this for some time and we have just released a similar full text search integrated with a forum to exchange comments. Of course we think our implementation and content is better than anything that came before but I wouldn't claim it is something nobody has done before. That is always a dangerous claim to make.
In any case, it couldn't be anything like that. I think the "Secret" is more a teaching and mentoring platform.

Okay everyone, we've decided to let our Café faithful in on a little information that the readers of MAGIC magazine won't learn for awhile.
While I'm still not at liberty to discuss the full nature of the SECRET project, I will tell you that JPS MAGIC STUDIOS LTD will debut the SECRET project at the 2009 World Magic Seminar which will be held at The Orleans Hotel & Casino March 1st thru 4th 2009 in Las Vegas Nevada. We will have a few surprises in store for everyone and it will be an event you don't want to miss! By the way, you should be going anyway to see my buddy Rudy Coby perform - it's an act you'll soon not forget! :smoke:

Peter, I am sure what you are working on will be quite interesting, but you assume you have universal knowledge. I think it would be more accurate to say that "by the best of your knowledge it is something nobody has done before".
Do you know everything that goes on here or abroad? Who knows, maybe somebody in Japan or in Germany or somewhere else has done something similar to what you are planning? I am just saying it sounds a bit pretentious to make such an absolute claim. Maybe it is really something nobody has done before - could be - but really nobody can say so until it is generally known what it is.

Okay Chris,
to the best of our knowledge, nobody has orchestrated what we are doing and certainly not to the extent or lengths we have went thru to make this a reality...we have spared no expense in this venture.
