Good idea, but looking at the photos, they are far from 'elite', unless I am missing something?

Hi Matt!
Thanks for you reply. Sure it would not be a good idea to do magic solely consisting of Tenyo or odd looking props, but in the right context or at the right moment for a particular crowd, a posher version of a Tenyo trick has its place. You have every right to use the material you want and have some valid reasons why. I was just a little confused with your comment because kids can't buy Tenyo tricks from say Toys R Us or other toy shops etc. Best wishes and see you at the lecture. Thanks for choosing to come. Hello all:
GarySumpter, I'm sure you were just teasing with your comment, but you do bring up a good point: If you are not familiar with the originals (and also have not seen our new editions), it can be difficult to see the differences in the photos. However this is why we put down some of the selling "features" in the descriptions. For example, at first blush, the picture of our edition of "Moonspinner" really doesn't look that much different from the photo beside it of Tenyo's original (and long-unavailable, by the way). But let me assure you that to look at them both in real-life, and especially to hold them both, there are MANY differences:
What I'm trying to say is to please keep in mind that in some cases, the photos (and the photo comparisons) do not do the Tenyo Elite editions justice. Again, this is especially true if you are not familiar with ours or the Tenyo original pieces. One of the reasons that we put the photos on the official Tenyo Elite website was to honor the original Tenyo pieces, and also to attempt to give a photo "realization" of the differences. But like many things in life, you've just "gotta see it and feel it" to appreciate the quality, and you will be able to do this very soon when the items go on sale. While amateurs and collectors will of course enjoy this new line, Tenyo Elite, we think that "professionals" will most certainly get a lot of use out of them. The Tenyo products are amazing, and Peter, Steve and I love them! However for years many have wanted them constructed in more "robust" materials for their audiences, and that is what we have done. The 3 of us are professional performers and we really wanted to be more "comfortable" performing Tenyo items at our paid gigs........so now this will be facilitated a little more "easily" with the Tenyo Elite line. We are still working out the final pricing details. Again, because one of our target markets are the performing magicians, these are intended to be affordable for this group. While the prices will be "Elite", they will not be unreasonable at all. Like anything in life, you will get what you pay for, but our intention is to certainly make the retail prices affordable. We will be debuting these at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, March 1-4, and we hope to have them on sale within a couple of months after that. So if you are attending the convention, we hope to see you there at our booth! Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your time. Hello all.
As for Brad's comments, I think I understand what he is try to say but its not very fair without seeing them in person first. Keep in mind that not all of the products will be metal. We do have plans to use wood, brass and other materials for future projects. Also the pictures do not do them justice, they are much different seen in person. We urge you Brad to join us at the World Magic Seminar so you can see the difference for yourself. Also the plan is to release 4-6 new items every year just like Tenyo does now. The props DO NOT feel or look like toys anymore in their new form trust me. Although take Blue Cyrstal or Soft Coins and they do still appear to be some kind of weird contraption agreed, but definately not a toy, and unlike the original Tenyo items we are supplying routines for the props also that finally explain their strange appearance. Take Blue Crystal for example we have a great routine around the idea of a magician's bank. He uses this to store his valuables in such as rings, jewels, coins etc, but there is no lock or combination instead the only way to get the objects in or out of the bank is by magic. That is just one example. By supplying properly scriped routines, and props made of more robust materials as well as eliminating such things as the Tenyo logo from the bottom of the prop(for example) really dispells any thought to the spectator that this is a toy. If you threw our Elite version of blue crystal at someone, you would probably kill em. Also keep in mind that as Steve Brooks mentioned we also had to work very closely with Tenyo and they had to approve every stage, prototype, design, new mechanical methods, materials, appearance etc. And they also wanted us to try a particular type of trick to make sure that really could make this happen with even the most difficult and mechanical working tricks that Tenyo has such as Soft Coins and Blue Crysal, and we did! These first four tricks didn't allow us to use some of the different materials we have planned, but we plan for different materials to be used through out the line. We are very excited about our future plans with Tenyo Elite, and this is only the begining. And thanks to everyone for the warm wishes! We appreciate them very much. Peter.

With all these anodized aluminum versions I am predicting massive pocket droopiness If anything, the Blue Crystal (I believe that's the name, I've always referred it to that blue penetration thing) is something you can't go wrong with. I had the original and used it quite often, no idea where I've put it, might still be at my old home. Would be awesome if it was made into a wooden chest instead of keeping the same box platform design. A lot more presentational ideas that can go hand in hand with a nice antique wooden chest design (tarnished brass hardware as well, very very cool).

Kissdadookie,
Actually the weight of the first four items are not going to give you droopy pockets. They are definately more robust than the original plastic versions, but its not like steel or anything. P.

Is the gimmick used for the new Blue Crystal different from the original or the one from that Credit Card slicing item that came out around a year or two ago.

The lens itself is the same as in the original Blue Cyrstal. It is better known as Lubor's Lens created by Lubor Fiedler. This is one of the tricks we wanted to do first, not just because the trick is killer, but also we had to obtain permission to use this lens from Lubor himself outside of Tenyo Japan. And since several Tenyo tricks use this technology we wanted to obtain the permission sooner than later to use the special lens in the Tenyo Elite line of products.
The first time I saw Blue Crystal performed (by Jason actually) I nearly fell off my seat, it looked so good! The next time I saw it performed was when I was doing the Elite version and making all my friends and family fall off of theirs! P.

Hey guys,
WOW!! Nice job on a monolithic project! I am looking forward to seeing these "in the real" These have a nice slick look and look like they are built to perform. I am looking forward to seeing some wood and brass versions as well. Count me in on a complete set! By the way, I really dig the new website. VERY COOL design! Chance

Hello all:
I just wanted to let you know that we have slightly "enhanced" the official site, http://www.tenyoelite.com, so please have another visit. First, there were a couple of issues with some of the pages, and some people could not see them properly. For instance please be sure to check out the "About Us" page, because there are some photos there that show our historic signing with Tenyo in New York, etc. Just use the "Continue" and "Back" buttons to navigate. Secondly, there is now a form on the Contact Us page so that you can be added to our emailing list and be kept up to date on new products, etc. Finally, in answer to one of the main questions, we are planning on introducing 4 to 6 products each year. What you see on the site are just the FIRST 4 that are coming out this year, and now the "Products" page reflects this with some more information. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you again for all your support. Best regards, Jason Palter Tenyo Elite/Paltergeist Unlimited (416) 410-5766 |

This Tenyo Elite line of products should sell well in the brick and mortar Magic Shops around the world. This stuff will look great in their glass cases and I doubt stay long before being sold.

Jason, Peter, Steve,
To follow on from my previous post. The do look the same on your website, however I am impressed with the work you have put in. I am 100% behind this project (I am a website designer, if you need anything done, give me a blip!) I would suggest getting some demos up for us magicians, even behind a password protected area or something. We all know the effects, but a demo showing the NEW versions and explaining the differences would be awesome! Gary |

Gary,
Thanks for the positive support - we appreciate it very much! Jason, Peter and I have been discussing the idea of putting demos on the site and will probably do this in the future. For now we are getting ready for Las Vegas!

They don't look much different to be honest. There really needs to be some effort to show how it feels different

Hello all:
Whokebe, you have got a very good point. It can be a little difficult to see/tell the differences between the original Tenyo tricks and our Elite editions by just looking at the photographs on the site. This is actually one of the reasons that we wrote the bulleted descriptive copy for each trick that you will see-----so as to better describe what the Elite edition gives you. We have been running like crazy for the past number of months trying to line up all of our ducks for the World Magic Seminar next week. As you can imagine, we're not just putting out 4 tricks, but rather creating an entirely new line and new BRAND. Add to this the creation, etc. that we had to do to start up our actual company (JPS Magic Studios Ltd.), and you can get a fairly good idea of the immense amount of work involved. That being said, within the weeks following the convention, our plan is to put up videos for each of the tricks that will actually show the differences between the originals and the Elite editions. I agree with you: when first glancing the photos on the site, the differences are not readily apparent. However with things like this, you truly have to see them in person and hold them in your hands just to appreciate how different they are. Hopefully the videos will help with this. I hope that helps put it in a little more perspective for you. If you're going to be at the convention, please come and introduce yourself to us at our official Tenyo Elite booth, and check out the pieces in person. Otherwise, I'm sure when you get a chance to see these in person once they are on sale at your local magic shop, you will be very impressed and will be able to better see the differences. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Jason Palter Tenyo Elite/Paltergeist Unlimited (416) 410-5766 |
