For cap in bottle:
I have Prohibition, is it worth getting Aquarius? Are there any others you would recommend? For coin in bottle: Is Abyss worth it? Are there any others you would recommend? Also, I'm open to variation in this question, are there any other bottle effects that you enjoy? Thanks in advance Daniel |

On the Underground Jam DVD see here;
http://www.thecuckoosnest.com/zencart/ze......s_id=511 there is an impromptu cap in bottle that is very clean and you can give the bottle away. It's called Final Cap in Bottle. I believe this was a Jay Sankey Production. Actually a pretty good DVD.

What about a coin in bottle?

With all the great cap in bottle routines mentioned, I figured nobody gave a crap about a coin in bottle routine. But since you asked... My favorite is John Bannons "vacuum packed" routine, from his "Smoke & Mirrors" book. It is the only one I use and it's a typical coin in bottle routine but with a clever twist on removing the coin.

Like I said above...Prohibition is my effect of choice! However...the Masked Magician just tipped the secret on the effect last week on the first episode of the exposure shows.
Since, I've been told by several people AFTER I did the effect that they know how I did it b/c they saw the Masked Magi on the tube! Thinkin' about puttin' it aside for now and letting the temp cool of on that one for a while...sadly!

Lyle: Go back in your sock drawer and get out your old folding half and do an old fashioned coin in bottle... if they saw the masked buffoon it will fry them.
He also tipped the cut and restored rope too... I was doing that for some co-workers and got called out on it and showed both hands empty before and after and fooled the socks off them!

Perhaps I'll do that. Not sure yet. Thinkin' I'll give it one more night. I saw the C&R Rope he did. WHO ON EARTH does it like that? I do Michael Finney's routine and from time to time will do Tabary...tho' I like Finney's routine better. Anyone who saw the MM expose the rope will be astounded with a REAL C&R routine. He also exposed Pena Coin (Coin/Latex Penatration) and Hyrum the Haunted Hank! LOL! Funny!

I'm a fan of Kevin James's "Perrier with a Twist"
I only changed the coin removal to the one that Lonnie Chevery uses in "Two Bits in a Bottle" |

Check out WGM Folding Coin DVD. Several good ones on there.
Also, I thought "Perrier with a Twist" was John Carney's

gaffed Inner circle So far I've managed to gimmick 1817 Posts |
"Vacuum Packed" is a great effect and I was lucky enough to have attended a lecture by John Bannon when he performed it although I had to be there as I had to meet up with him for some gaffed cards that I made for him for a new trick he had come out with and wished to sell after the lecture with his lecture notes. (Its what I used to do professionally years ago)
As I said in my intro here I've been away from magic for some years but that happens to be the first trick I pulled down from my dusty collection and ergo my post as to rejuvenating old folding coins. HERE When I started messing around with it again I then realized some small thing that always bothered me about the effect. (I’m not giving away how to do it here of course) but, having the quarter in your hand and then “closing” it before the bottle was slammed into your palm always bothered me as, why would you close you palm? Granted, I’ve never been questioned about it when performed but yet all tricks can for the most part be refined and improved upon it at all possible. I’m now in the process of refining it so that the quarter can now be held in your “open” palm and then, when the bottle is slammed into your palm it visibly vanishes while your palm is “still” open! A visible vanish which I believe can only enhance the trick. I’ve tested it and it works quite nicely although it has to be refined as to the bottle and requires an extra coin and a bit more palming but it’s quite easy. The trouble is, I have no way in telling how as it would then involve talking about John Bannon’s trick as to how it works which would of course not be allowed and as it should be. Then again, if there is some way I can do so by all means let me know as I'll be more happy to share the effect albeit it takes some work as to refining the bottle and.....something "extra'. ~gaffed~

No question, "Prohibition". I usually open with Prohibition and end the routine by showing how it was done. I remove the bottom of the bottle ala Kevin James's "Perrier with a Twist. Then hand the bottle out for examination.

Last trip to France, I had a folding Euro coin made... Took it with me and did coin in wine bottle. Fried the folks UNTIL the dopey waiter came by and said, "Oh you have one of those folding coins?"
I felt like hitting him over the head with the bottle... but did get him by leaving a tiny tip.

Lonnie used to do this walkaround with a glass, travel-sized Scope bottle and a quarter. It's still the best coin in bottle routine I know. You can't get the glass Scope bottles any more, but this was a really great routine. To tell you the truth, though, none of these is really inherently better than another. It all depends on how YOU sell it. Find one you like and work with it until it's perfect. Then work on every variation you can think of with it. After you have done it a couple thousand times, you will really be smooth.
