Very interesting, a brilliant author...and verrry quirky.
I have a "V for Vendetta" Guy Fawkes mask hanging on my wall.

Definitely the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Not only are those a great read, but a fantastic tutorial in creating faux history.

I had heard that the movie was based on an older Moore story that he threw out.
In any case, I enjoyed the movie as much as I enjoyed the books.

And V for Vendetta is my favorite !
In this case, I prefer the film. In the Gentlemen comics, every image has tons of references* to classical and sometimes obscure fantasy litterature of the XIXth and early XXth century. All has been lost in the film and Alan Moore was really upset about Hollywood after what they've done with his concept. Later, he refused to have his name mentionned on other movies. *(My own work is also full of references, that's why I appreciate so much Moore's work.) |

Also, "V for Vendetta" is in my regular list of movies to watch when you can't think of anything else. Well done indeed. I preferred the books for "From Hell" and "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" much more than the movies. I didn't think they were awful, just not in the same league as the books. I'm really looking forward to Watchmen. Mark

Heck, I got all his stuff... and if you really want an overlooked gem of Moore's that everyone forgot about is his Captain Britain run where he developed his chops for all the greats you are talking about... including the amazing MIRACLE MAN trilogy (Kid Miracleman - oh boy)... but the Captain Britain with the Fury, Mad Jim Jaspers..... the multiverse... so cool.
I have the Original Watchmen comics... my wife will like usual (like everytime a movie like Iron Man, Spiderman, batman etc) comes out say "sell your comics now!!!" and I'll say "sorry, I'm a madman collector...."

Alan moore rules, unfortunately something came up involving the rights to the movie or something along those lines and watchmen may be put on hold or entirely abandoned. what the f***!

Speaking of constantine, according to moore he has met him a couple of times in real life...
"One day, I was in Westminster in London — this was after we had introduced the character — and I was sitting in a sandwich bar. All of a sudden, up the stairs came John Constantine. He was wearing the trenchcoat, a short cut — he looked — no, he didn't even look exactly like Sting. He looked exactly like John Constantine. He looked at me, stared me straight in the eyes, smiled, nodded almost conspiratorially and then just walked off around the corner to the other part of the snack bar. I sat there and thought, should I go around that corner and see if he is really there, or should I just eat my sandwich and leave? I opted for the latter; I thought it was the safest. I'm not making any claims to anything. I'm just saying that it happened. Strange little story. " very stranger than fiction don't you think?

John Constantine is also cross referenced in Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic. At least the first tome is Neil Gaiman's. Another must read who anticipated Harry Potter.
