Hello!
I have been working on the clip shift since it was released and I have some problems with it. When I have the card cliped it sticks out a bit to much over my hand, have anyone else had this problem? What do you guys thing about this move now? is anyone using it or is it more of a move which is fun to play around with? |

I personally love this move, but I'm having the same problem you just mentioned. Also, my hand always contacts the top card for some reason and outjogs it, making it very hard to complete the move, but I'm working on it.
BTW, any tried the 26 card shift yet? Good luck with this |

Where is this published?
I think I have a similar move. I might be able to help if it is the same move.

Not cool talking about this in the open.

Oh come on now, this isn't even close to exposure.
I too have the same problem. Whern I shift the card, the whole edge of the card snaps into view briefly on the pinky-side of my hand. I'm still working on that... nothing a bit of angle management can't fix. I'm also working on manipulating the deck around the shifting card as to minimize the snap.

I don't think this move can be "exposed": a layman seeing a complete verbal description will be quickly convinced that it's impossible. Here we have experienced card-men, with instructions, working on it for months and still not getting the hang of it...
I've been working on this as well, and have lots of problems with shifting the deck. And you can hear the awesome crackling of my magick from the next room |

Yeah, I don't think magic is going to be ruined by somebody knowing there is some hard card move out there called the clip shift.

The exposure isn't to laymen, it is to magicians that haven't bought Surfaced and want to gleam the workings from postings about it.

Either some posts were edited/deleted or you are overreacting. Knowing that many have an issue with a card sticking out when executing a move, is not exposure. I do not know this move, and have found absolutely no clues above.
Did I just miss the juicy stuff? Michael |

I'd have to say it's pretty safe since this sleight has several "magician" deterrents..... STUDY, WORK, HARD, TIME and DEDICATION! That should eliminate a huge percentage right there! MickeySmartAzz |

I do not perform this move, not even close, but I have seen much better magicians than me perform true miracles with clever applications of the move. It can be absolutely invisible, deceptive, and useful, especially when not used as a color change.

...at the same time, I wonder if I really should spend this much time on this sleight. I dig the ultra clean dribble-control, but many of its utility overlaps with the side-steal (control, steal, pass, color-change)
Well, along with the muscle pass, something to work on through the years! |

I honsestly saying that I cannot execute the move at this moment or any time soon. It is hard... my fingers simply is not working ...

Yeah, haha, if somebody could figure out how to do it from a couple sentences maybe they deserve to know :-p.

Amiable, I think that no one needs to learn this, in fact there are very few skills that are really needed to perform adequate and successful card magic. My take is that this is one of those advanced skills, like you said, to develop over the years, to keep studying and refining your relationship with the pasteboards, and in doing so you'll also gain a subtler way of accomplishing things.
Me, I'm years away from even trying to tackle it... |

I can do this pretty well. If you keep practicing it, your hand will make the necessary adjustments on its own. Well, that's what happened to me.

In a week of solid work I've gotten rid of most of the problems, I think I'll have it now in less than a month. I'm wondering if its worth putting time into the 26 shift though, even Nelson can't do it invisibly. |
