Hi guys,
here is the press release for the launch of tvpuppets.co.uk happy viewing and feedback welcome. regards, geoff. TV Puppets Take To The Stage On Dedicated Television Channel From TV Magicians 7 October 2008 (Brighton, UK): The TV Puppets sub-channel from acclaimed TV Magicians, which attracted thousands of viewers in its first month of broadcast, has become so popular that it has now become a stand-alone channel in its own right, at http://www.tvpuppets.co.uk and on the PlayTV UK IPTV network. TV Puppets, which is currently showcasing the realistic rubber-based creations from the USA’s most respected puppet and model making company for the professional performer and movie industry, Axtell Expressions Inc., is already proving to be an addictive line up, with actress Kirstie Alley of ‘Cheers’ fame even citing Axtell’s ‘Buzz Bonkit Burd’ puppet as her child’s favourite toy.* With around 31 hours from launch, TV Puppets includes a huge range of puppet characters in a variety of reality and fantasy situations, from education to satire; and appeals to both children and adults alike. Listed with the warning: ‘Material on this channel can make you laugh hysterically’, the cultish TV Puppets also includes a genius spoof of the 2008 White House race from animal and eco charity PETA, where prize vegetables debate healthy eating standards in ‘Race to the Greenhouse’; a stop animation spoof of ‘The Matrix’ fight scenes with a cop dog and a toy robot; the brilliantly bizarre, ‘Star Wars’ Jedi-style Palpatine, who provides stand up commentaries ‘Ask Palpatine About Anything’; original 1950s puppet show ‘Twisted Tales’; ‘The Falsettos’, a spoof of US gangster series ‘The Sopranos’, in which human actors star alongside puppets; and modern moral tale, ‘The Puppet Catcher’, in which puppet news anchor for PBC, Bob Green, investigates and reports upon the dangers of talking to strangers, both online and in real life. Geoff Harrison, manager and owner of TV Magicians and TV Puppets, says: “I am very happy TV Puppets has been so in demand we have pretty much had to give it its own channel. It is rare these days for people to see original, hand-made puppets on TV, but they are still hugely popular and, with the massive upsurge of independent filmmaking for the internet and IP, a lot of the material being made is a combination of hilarity and acidic commentary on the 21st century. TV Puppets gives the makers of puppet films the opportunity for countless viewers around the globe to see their material, which would otherwise probably be buried on computer discs.” Steve Axtell, president and creative director of Axtell Expressions Inc., enthuses: “It’s great to be a big part of TV Magicians and TV Puppets! What a great new concept! Congrats to Geoff and his team!” Geoff Harrison concludes: “We look forward to hearing from any puppeteers or ventriloquist orientated producers who wish to contribute material and join our TV Puppet club. Let’s have fun keeping alive this art form which is hardwired into so many of our brains from childhood.” TV Puppets also features video content regarding robots, from the past future and present, new technology and information about the future of space exploration, making it a fascinating programme for all ages. Further pending channels and sub channels from TV Magicians include jazz music, independent films, nightclub and DJ information and general interest content. TV Puppets, TV Magicians and the TV Magicians sub-channels are available on the PlayTV UK (http://www.playtvuk.com) IPTV set-top box service from Global Digital Broadcast and may also be viewed online at http://www.tvmagicians.com *During an interview in her home on the ‘Home Show’. PlayTV UK will be at MIPCOM (http://www.mipcom.com) in Cannes from 13 – 17 October, level 3 in the main Palais, Digital Zone, stand G3.28. There is some very cool stuff on here !
I am having problems though, trying to watch quite a few of the videos. They don't seem to stream very well. They run for only a few seconds and freeze up, then repeat that process. It is really difficult to enjoy watching any video that pauses every few seconds. I have broadband Comcast internet, so this shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it is because so many people are trying to view it today, since the big announcement came out. I hope it gets a little faster at streaming the video, because as I said before, there is some very cool stuff on here....

Hi mark,
we are aware of these issues. sometimes the streaming capabilities across the world have problems. we apologise for this, however sometimes its out of our control with network delivery via internet over long distances. we are attempting to provide the best streaming facilities possible, however there are glitches sometimes. many thanks for your support however and we encourage any other puppeteers to give tvpuppets.co.uk a try. regards, geoff Harrison owner http://www.tvpuppets.co.uk http://www.tvmagicians.com
