I have something I want to test but am out of flash paper right now. It a gas grill ignitor going to ignite a piece of flash paper/cotton/string?
I Searched and in another post found the following "I recently bought a BBQ grill ignitor. It works great for creating a spark" I was wondering though is the spark good enough from the ignitor enough to set the flash products on fire? Chris
Thanks,

Chris, I've tried that. It won't work. Is that the type with batteries? That also won't work.

A Gas grill ignitor doesn't have batteries as far as I know. Its a button and something makes a spark come out. unless there is an internal battery?
Thanks,

Piezoelectric grill ignitors don't have batteries and create a single spark when you press the button. There are also ones that spark repeatedly when you hold down the button, and these use batteries. I doubt the spark alone from either type could be trusted to reliably touch off flash products, if at all.
I would consider a hot wire or glow plug approach with FC primer. Ross |

Model rocket launchers with rocket igniters work great.

I have considered making a few igniton devices with them, but haven't gotten around to taking a trip to Radio Shack to get the guts for them.

My grill ignitor requires a battery.
The push button unscrews and that is where the battery is inserted. Peace, Parson
