Which is your favorite effect with a credit card?
I bought "Double Crossed," and it is a nice effect. It USES a credit card, but it is not magic with a credit card. (To describe my thinking: If I perform pen through coin, it is not magic with a pen because I "influence with my magic power the coin," and then I push the pen or the cigarette or a pencil through it. I am sure some of you have an other point of view, but that's okay.) I am looking for effects where something happens with the credit-card, close up!! (Sometimes I perform on stage: Burning a credit-card and appearing in an envelope.) Perhaps someone knows a good effect! Thank you! Angelo |

I have an effect I purchased while living in the UK, called something like "Room to Move". It was touted as a "Scotch & Soda" of hotel key cards/credit cards/driver's licenses. To be honest I never bothered to learn the routines, but I'd be glad to give you more detail via PM if you're interested.

Billy McComb did an interesting Credit Card to Wallet that can be found in different places. The spectator's card switches places with the magician's.
I've seen people do Hummer's Whirling Card with credit cards. I haven't had too much luck with that unless I use one of those fake ones out of the mail. I guess my cards are too heavy (with them being gold and all ). Mark Jenest put out Magicard, which can be found here. If you want some mentalism, you could do a number divination. Or, gather up several and do a psychometry routine. Or, use a card(s) for one of those three-object effects like Free Will or Nu Sense or others. You could also use "your mind" to erase the info, but I'd just stick to hotel keys for that.

1) Nate Kranzo has a beautiful credit card vanish and re-appearance ("Out of the Box" DVD)
2) The "Security Hole" trick is a credit card with a hole that comes on and off; fun effect. 3) David Regal has a wonderful credit card trick in his new book "Approaching Magic" that is visual and funny.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

I like Jay Sankey's "Extended Credit" effect. It can be found in his "Twenty Years Of Magic" book and was printed in a previous issue of Genii Magazine (sorry, don't remember the issue).
It's a great little effect where a credit card is "snapped" in half and then magically restored. It's an attention getter! Mark. |

I did once see on British TV (many years ago) a magician putting a spectator's credit card into a shredder when he had entrusted him with his wallet. Even though the spectator knew it was a trick and he was holding the performer's wallet, his face became pretty long. Lots of fun and very magical.

Thank you! Does anyone please know, in which Genii Magazine - issue this effect was printed? |

I believe the Genii issue was in 1999, which if they are still offering the special of buying that entire year for an unbelievable price, would make it worth picking up.
I will double check, but I think that is the year Sankey was in it. http://geniimagazine.com/back_issues/1999/index.html June 1999 was the issue. RevJohn |

Mark Leveridge has a trick called "ATM" (for the USA market) or "Cash Point" in the UK which is a very nice trick.
David Ben has a version of Peter Kane's "Elongated Lady" using a credit card in his book "Tricks". There is a video of this trick here:- http://www.squashpublications.com/extensionOfCredit_pop.html Both are excellent tricks and worth looking into.

I like Credit Card Change ( a marketed item)- Toss an Amex Card into the air and on the way down it changes to the selected card. I first saw it on one of Joshua Jay's DVD's.
