Greetings and Salutations rowdy,

Look at Daryl's rope videos, Tabaray's (sp?) two-volume set, Flip's video, or Colombini's Lasting Impressions, vols. 1 & 4.

Those should keep you tied up for quite a while. Sorry, I couldn't resist! I should be pun-ished. lol!

Joe,

That's knot funny. Telling jokes like that will get you into a real bind. Keep your mind on your effect and slip knot. I do a family magic rope show and my granny knots there.

Magic is a vanishing Art.

This must not be Kansas anymore, Toto.

Eschew obfuscation.

Turk, you really "roped" us in with those lines. It's a "tie" between you and Joe. Okay I'll stop...I don't want to "string" you along.

I saw Flip lecture about 30 years ago, and his rope magic was way ahead of its time in my opinion. I particularly liked one part of the routine where he stretched a very short rope into a very long rope. His timing and misdirection were flawless and he fried the entire room full of magicians. I'm not exactly sure what's on his video, though.

I recommend Tabary. This man has a very nice 2 videos set. Some of his ideas are (in my mind) too easy, and don't look like pure magic... but the rest is excelent!

Tabary has the most beautiful method to adding ends to a rope loop.

I have both Tabary tapes - however I found I enjoyed the first tape more as there is some repetition on the second tape.

However, I haven't actually worked on the routine(s) yet - choosing to start with Takagi's c&r from his book.

I really must re-watch the Tabary tapes.

Cheers,
Shafique

I have Flip's and Daryl's, Loose Ends, and Tabary's. Go with Tabary if you like elegant rope effects.

I must say the Tabary discs. He is the best thing from France since Endrake himself when it comes to rope magic.

Sorry, got the name wrong it's not Endrake it should be Jean Merlin. Endrake produced flowers that covered the whole stage.
