Other than the effect where you pull out the razors on a string from the mouth, does anyone have any sources for effects that deal with razors?

Also - in regards to the razors from mouth, I see many different style of effects sold that hold the blades and the switch gimmick. Any of them better than others, or is it a matter of personal preference?

Hey clownmagic!

There are a number of razor routine resources... infact we carry them! I will post the link to the items so you can get the information - I would be happy to sell them to you, or I am sure a number of dealers that focus on high quality items can order them for you:

http://www.shopmagicvault.com/Helter-She......599.html

http://www.shopmagicvault.com/Geek-Magic......601.html

http://www.shopmagicvault.com/Razor-Blad......597.html

are the three most popular.

As for the gimmick - I personally have several and prefer:

http://www.shopmagicvault.com/Automatic-......598.html

Most use the same switch method - although before buying a gimmick - get:

http://www.shopmagicvault.com/Helter-She......600.html

as it shows several style - many of which you can easily build yourself and save money. (wait ... did a dealer just tell someone NOT to buy something?!!??! hahaah)

Seriously - get that video by Bizzaro... it will teach you everything you need to know and show you several gimmicks. I plan on building my own based on one of the designs there. I like the method shown in it - and its different than the commercial gimmicks.

Shoot me an email or PM and let me know if you want me to send you a few pics of the one I build... Id be happy to.

Look up the Zoran Horror Finger Cutter. Uses a razor, but you don't put it in your mouth. Also, if you are into the oral fixation of razors, also check out the Tim Ellis blade routine (on one of his dvds, I think Wonderland) and the book "Brainstorm in my Pajamas" by Kotah. -J.R.

If you are going to do it in your mouth, my favorite method is in the DVD, Geek Magic with Tomas Medina (listed above). I have tried different methods and I like his the best.

Hello. I have a version of the razors on my site called Urban Legend. You can find it at magicandmindgames.com It is a no prop, no switch, that can be performed close up if desired.

I hope this helps. Also, I've heard good things about "Razor Blade Magic" dvd by Byrd and Coates.

A little imagination can transform lots of coin effects into razor blade effects quite nicely as well. Just be very careful please.

Urban Legend was an expensive buy for me, it made all my other razor blade swallowing gaffs obsolete. Yep, packed all in a box and put in storage. It really is a great way to present this illusion for most persons and totally inexpensive itself (a little annoying actually) I'm already using it and it gets a great response, thanks MP

The first and original 'no switch'method for the classic razor blade effect;
" The Dayton Razor Blade Miracle" is available from Leaping Lizard's Magic.
Their banner is here on the Café. More recent versions are variations of this basic principle. Many of the newer takes on it are extremely good pieces of theater. The original used ten blades and could also be done close up if you chose to. Preparation and set-up is more time consuming initially

Thanks for the very kind words. Yes, the first and original no switch method can be found in the Dayton Razor Blade Miracle, I use the same idea for my non-switch portion of the routine.

The story around which Michael Paul'routine revolves is intense and gripping.
COmbined with the original music track he supplies; gives you all the tools you need for a memorable presentation. I would enjoy seeing him perform it. I certainly enjoyed watching the Tim Ellis blades.
Have recently been made aware of Sid Fleishman's version, which I would also love to see performed. Pics of mine performed by me are on the cover of MUM in 1988
Blessed be the blade workers

1988 brother kotah? Exactly 100 years from another skilled blade worker. Coincidence?

Geek Magic by Tomas Medina also has a matrix using razor blades but you could probably come up with something on your own
