Francis:

You weren't dumped, you were duped. She didn't "do" anything to you, as this wasn't about you, it was about her, and her behaviour (including her lack of honesty and maturity) simply revealed her character.

Yes, it hurts, but the pain you're feeling is Enlightenment; it isn't fatal and (if correctly analysed) will lead to less such pain in the future. You have become disentangled from an undesirable partner in a way that was far less costly (financially and emotionally) than the dissolution afforded by either divorce or death.

FWIW, heal and move on.

After almost a year of being together, I caught my girlfriend cheating. I don't know what to do, she is in complete denial. I was at her house when her mother came down the stairs yelling" That is the most disrespectful thing you have ever done"

" What" my gf said.

" You had sex in my bed, there is lubricant all over my sheets.."

I was there when I heard that, I later found out another guy was over the night before...

How established was the relationship?

I assume from what the mother said that she did not know about it. If she did she is the worlds nastiest b!tch.

As for where she had sex - I'm sure no disrespect was intended - people do not stop to think of such things in the throes of passion!

This is really quite simple.

Do you really have a relationship - or is it wishful thinking on your part?

If there is a relationship are you able to happily accept that your girlfriend apparently enjoys sex with people other than yourself?

If not move on.

There's a whole world of people out there looking for love.

If she can't keep herself pure before marriage, she more likely won't be faithful to you after marriage.

Carrie Sue,

My heart always lifts when you post.

A good example of a woman who kept herself 'pure' until marriage, as we know because her virtue had to be medically proven, was Princess Diana. While I personally have no problems with her behaviour post-marriage, it would tend to undermine your sweeping moral generalisation.

You deserve a better friend and partner. One that you can trust. As Leland said, "It's not about you." even though it feels like it is. I've been there and had my heart ripped out of my chest, thrown in a blender, soaked with napalm and then blasted with a blow torch. 7 years later I met the woman of my dreams. And yes, it was when I wasn't looking.
