The language of thoughts are like sentence‘s, thoughts have logical forms. That’s the basic idea behind the making of artificial intelligence. As far as I understand it. So I was just wondering if we could do magic for artificial intelligence? Could we use artificial intelligence to create magic tricks?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Really, really, who said so? And is that the sort of approach that's been attempted? If so how did it work out?

The Language of Thought Hypothesis

? no idea what you've been reading yet to date there is no artificial intelligence of the sort they are seeking - sentience.

According to this theory, local mental processes are operations defined on syntactically structured mental representations that are much like sentences (the 'language of thought'). The emphasis on syntax presupposes the primary assumption of rationalist psychology -- that beliefs, desires, thoughts and the like have logical forms (and are thus amenable to computational modelling).

Artificial intelligence programs to invent magic? They can't even write a coherent sentence.
Here's one of my own, written by Janus Node: Gate is a hope of amputations in plasma. You must find salvation in wisdom and other beneficial abnormal secrets which you can come to understand. A god is similar to a filtration worker! Your penniless cognition will transform through in cantankerous or carefree ways. Think carefully about the possibility of great good fortune. |

From the article cited:
Quote:

LOL Regardless of that couldn't we use The Language of Thought Hypothesis to costruct magic tricks.

It might make a cute "let's pretend as if" for mentalism or a style of reveal that is processor syntactic oriented.
For magic and stories it's fine and probably fun.

Well now, you're quite welcome, son. It's a pleasure to meet someone who understands that to the true gambler, money is never an end in itself, it's simply a tool, as a language is to thought. Good evening, uh... Mr. Slade.

For artificial intelligence to work, one has to program so called "rules" and then let facts to go through these rules to see what conclusions come out of it.
Who are the "intelligent" guys choosing the initially pertinent rules? How are the facts chosen? What happens if the initial programmers were not so bright? What if the guys chosing the facts are kind of stupid? and there is no mention here about the capacity to word both the rules and the facts... The human species have still nice days ahead of them... (or we're in big trouble)

I guess it's an urban legend then, but I seem to remember awhile back some guy programming a computer to learn the rules of comedy.
I remember that they published a bunch of stuff the computer came up with and some of it was quite funny. I'll always remember that supposedly it had come up with funny headlines and my favorite was: "Hurricane kills five then self." Greg
One of my favorite quotes: "A critic is a legless man who teaches running."

The interest of artificial intelligence is that, for a lot of things it produces, some are off the beaten path but practical.
This is always the case with permutations. Then a human mind can pick some, thus making them operative.
