I need to ask...why gimmicked? Learn ungimmicked and you will never have to worry about it. Go to http://www.cannons.com for a decent selection.

Yea, I know I may look like a professional escape artist, but to be honest, I'm not (except for Siberian Chain Escape). I am putting together more plans to escaping out of a strait jacket upside down. If it is ungimmicked, it will give me more of a harder time. The gimmicked ones will be a lot easier. And I might use it for the grand finale. After a full show of magic, I'll be worn out when I get to the strait jacket.

I heard about the Hocus Pocus Strait Jacket here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rum=18&7
I noticed it reads "gimmicked" here: http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/ in the more info section. Check out these threads: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=18 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=18 Well I got a question. Are the gimmicked ones secret easily noticed when getting out of when escaping in full view? |

I guess it depend on "how" they are "gimmicked". if by gimmicked you mean, "not gimmicked" then no one will notice. =P
Actually, I just finished watching the second Dixie Dooley video, and if it's gimmick like the one he talks about (although he uses a real jacket), then, yes, they would be able to tell how it works, unless you are in or behind something, and have a real jacket to switch out with for them to look at after the escape. Don't take my word for it though, that's just what I've heard in the last few days, and I'm saying it as a beginner. Danton

Oh Curtis, that was a bit harsh..... =P
Mike, I know you like to do thing right, from talking to you on the livestock forum.. Real jackets can't be that bad to get out of, as there are loads of people that do it. It must be like everything else, Practice makes "almost" perfect. I found a good looking jacket on Ebay for under $100, made by a guy right here on the Café.

Mike,
I don't think anyone has asked yet, How are you planning on escaping? And by this I don't mean the actually method, but how do you intend to use this in your performance? If you are doing it underwater, or switching places with an assistant (jacket and sub-trunk, etc.), a gimmicked jacket might be helpful... Hanging upside down, simply escaping, or even escaping from the jacket inside a box or mail bag, wouldn't necessarily make using a gimmicked jacket worth while.

Dynamike,
Go with the ungimmicked jacket. It is so much more rewarding, and to be honest, I find it relatively easy to use a real one. I would even use the real one for a suspended from a burning rope escape. The only reason the insane couldn't get out of them is because they were insane. -Matt
