I found what I assume is the original routine for sale if anyone’s interested. I'd check with Kent first to be sure it's approved for sale by him.

Yes, that's the one that was on sale. I wonder if it is still being sold.

I like this routine a lot, I even showed to my kids and now Kent has 2 more fans...
There are moves that really hide (fools) how the small balls move from one cup to another and the last 3 loads are invisible ... Excellent work ... Pablo |

I certainly agree with you, Pablo. I am still working on the handling of the routine after purchasing the book. Great, powerful and deceptive moves in the routine.

The routine on Lulu is one I put up there. I am not actively selling the routine. I don't think one person in a thousand will spend 40 bucks on instructions to a single trick. It is the .pdf I'm not selling anymore.
I think I sold a bunch of pdfs due to the instant gratification factor. I doubt many who bought the .pdf version, from me or Lulu did much more than skim the material. I'm only guessing. I know I buy way too much magic stuff I never use. But, if someone is willing to drop 40 dollars on the printed manual, then I think they're pretty serious cups and balls guys and not just trying to figure out where the big balls come from. I have no valuable secrets. To me it's not about the secrets. I think the sequence, how to get from one bit to the next bit naturally is what matters. Some magicians use this forum for advertising their wares. I don't have but a single ware. I have friends on here and I like to jabber about cups and balls. My motivation isn't in selling the trick. I wanted to: 1. Get feedback. The initial postings I put up brought me some good critiques. I used that to get better! (Overall it's been very positive, thank you very much!) 2. Show off a bit. 3. Just talk about magic tricks, darn it! |

Frankly Kent,
I think you should substantially raise the price. The people that you are talking about who appreciate the difference, will have no problem putting an extra 60$ over your 40$ and we all did throw much more away in cheap #&@*# we never performed. By substantially rising your price with a time limit for the older price, you'd express in your price what you write in your post "This is not just another routine". The ones who own the routine know it and already vouched for that. You are only interested in the people who can really appreciate the substantial difference: why should a real magic lover pay so much less for a routine of this caliber than for the cups they are going to use. Look at the few great secrets like the Bob Kohler HO. Its cost has nothing to do with the fabrication price. Yes it is frustrating for some but the ones who really want it have it.

Etienne,
Thank you for the compliment. I've sold all I'm going to sell. If anyone wants the printed routine, I've a few left. I spent far too long figuring out a price. I put a few copies in the local magic shop. None sold. It's a good shop and discussions with that owner and several others led me to learn: This sort of thing never sells many copies. I wrote the routine up because some people asked me to. I don't need the money. The value of that document, to me, is very confusing. I love doing the trick and think several paths I chose to follow are so far outside the norm, they could be of interest to others. I hate to admit this, but I was stunned when virtually no one wanted the printed version. I realize now, what I think is important in magic is not what most magicians think is important. That is perfectly OK with me. I'll keep the price the same. If magicians, like the ones in Japan, who saw the routine on you tube, ask . . . I'll sell 'em a copy. I don't want to start a magic business. I don't wish to gain financially from this effort. When I sit down and consider the universe . . . I gained immeasurable joy and satisfaction in every facet of this endeavor. I got to make some wonderful new friends, like you and Josh the Superfluous. (Missed my pal Josh in the intial onslaught of thanks. I am the rabbit!) Value is always perceived differently. You and I think the booklet is worth $100 dollars. I do acknowledge and appreciate your evaluation!! |

I bought the PDF when it was available. It's great and I'm glad I got it while the opportunity was there. I've done more than skim it. I've read it beginning to end, cups in hand, several times. It has some excellent information that you won't find in other C&B books and that one vanish (you know what I'm talking about Kent) convinced me to buy Sherwood cups and balls. I doubt I'll ever do Kent's routine, but I don't plan on doing anyone else's routine either; however, there are definitely some moves in the manuscript that I'm going to try to learn.

BRAVO!
I really enjoyed the routine. Probably the best I have seen so far and I think I have seen many...... I really think you should raise the price of the routine but only after you sell one to me. GREAT! Really wounderful routine......so smooth, so clean and entertaining. GREAT! GREAT! |

After seeing the youtube video of Kent's routine, I decided to go ahead and buy the PDF file. I am at that point where I am trying to learn as much as possible about C&Bs and Chop Cup routines. The only thing I am missing out on is the patter because of my deafness, patter is a big part of any routine and I wish I could hear better ...
Anyway, Kent's routine is all new compared to the routines that I have learned so far, and glad I brought his PDF file routine. Thank you Kent for sharing, it's an opportunity that we cannot afford to miss. I am no expert in C&B or magic either, but from what I know now I feel that you have helped open the door for more creative adventures. You have been a inspirational teacher, and deserve a big pat on the back for excellent work. Sincerely Madkiki |

Mickey,
Nobody, but nobody got the Fritos bit, good job! I hope to be in Vegas for the convention. I have a green light from the wife. My day job is always a problem. I will make every effort. It sounds like the wrong convention for a cups and balls geek to miss! |

I'll say this: I don't claim to be an expert on the cups and balls. In fact, I'm still working on a three cup routine. I almost invariably perform the chop cup, because it's been my "companion" for almost 35 years.
I've seen lots of cups and balls routines. This one now shows the joy and mystery that a really good piece of magic should show. This routine is excellent now. I can't wait to see it at the WMS. The progress here has been incredible.

Etienne,
I'm flattered by Gertner's comments. He does one of the greatest cups and balls routines ever. That routine is the ilk of real magicians who earn their living from this stuff. I will never, ever be that good. I will try to approach that level though. Bill, The routine got better because I realized it was not good enough. You, Etienne, Peter, Josh, Frank (of the Ambitious Card), and Mark Lewis via another site provided inestimable help. Bob Fitch was the singular biggest help and inspiration for the routine by the way. No insult to y'all intended. I contacted him early in the process. It was his scathing criticisms and honest opinions that got me off my big fat backside to turn this into a decent cups and balls routine. The responsibilty to get better resides firmly with me. I still need to continue to practice and rehearse. Someday it will meet my standard as "good enough". I need to pare down the number of words I'm saying and emphasize the magical events better. I hope to have a chance at WMS to present in front of you and Pete. It will probably be in my hotel room at the Bellagio. (The Orleans is not my cup of bourbon) To Mark Lewis, Thank you sir for your current help. Your scathing criticisms are irritating and helpful! |
