UFC 90: Silva vs. Côté tomorrow night on pay-perview. I'll probably end up watching it some time around 8 or 9 PM. There are some pretty interesting fights on this card.

Main card

* Middleweight championship bout: Anderson Silva vs. Patrick Côté

Here we have a fight that will surely be entertaining. We have the so far unstoppable force in the middleweight division, Anderson Silva. And a dangerous striker with an iron chin. I am conflicted in my prediction of this fight. There is what I want to happen and what I think will mostly likely happen. Silva has shown that he is a very dynamic striker with pin point accuracy, and he is no slouch when it comes to Brazilian jiu jitsu. Côté has shown that he is a dangerous striker with knock out power in his hands and an iron chin, both comparable to Chris Leben (who wasn't so lucky against Silva who handed Leben his first and only loss via KO). I bring this up because Leben and Côté fought a very close fight against each other, Côté losing via split decision. However I do not see Côté fighting Silva as sloppy as Leben did.

What I see happening is Côté taking the center of the cage throughout most of the first round, with Silva taking half to more of the round to find a rhythm. I see Côté's chin getting him to the second round at least. And I know he won't trudge forward like Leben did. I think it my be the first time a fight with Silva will go to the third round. Both fighters strengths are in their standup. Silva can put people down with quick accurate combos, while with Côté it may only take one to put a guy down. They both have muay thai training, so I don't see that being a huge advantage to Silva like it was against Franklin. On the ground I'd say the advantage is with Silva. He was able to sub Lutter. And Côté has lost 2 out of his 4 loses due to a submission. But I don't see it going to the ground unless Silva finds his striking, somehow ineffective.

Like I said, what I want to happen is for Côté to win (gotta pull for my fellow Canadian); however, I only see this happening due to, and I use this term loosely, a "Lucky" punch on Côté's part in the first or second round. What will mostly likely happen is Silva winning via TKO in the second round.

* Welterweight bout: Thiago Alves vs. Josh Koscheck

This fight was originally supposed to be Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves but Diego was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury. Alves is a strong guy at 170 with excellent muay thai. And with the majority of his wins via TKO. But I don't see Alves TKOing Koscheck. GSP couldn't even do that to him... then again GSP was fresh off that TKO from Serra and GSP's plan wasn't really striking with Kos. He just out wrestled him, easily. So I'll be impressed if Alves finishes Koscheck. But Koscheck's fights have a nack for going to decision. Maybe I don't have enough respect for Alves' striking, but I am going with Unanimous Decision win for Alves.

* Heavyweight bout: Fabricio Werdum vs. Junior dos Santos

Werdum. I am still waiting to see him really impress me. He was supposed to make quite the entrance into the heavyweight division, but fell short of the hype. His striking has improved... but it's still questionable in my eyes. With that I am thinking Werdum will take this via submission.

* Lightweight bout: Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin

This has Fight of the Night written all over it in my opinion. Tyson Griffin is one of my favorite fighters. He is very talented and entertaining to watch. And because with his half five fights, three have actually won the Fight of the Night award.

I don't see either of them finishing the fight though. I am thinking this will go all 3 rounds. I don't think Sherk has the striking ability to win this for him, I think Griffin has the upper hand on that. I don't think either had the upper hand when it comes to submissions either. This can be a fight of the night; however, it can be a boring fight if we see Sherk going with his favorite tactic of trying to take this fight via "Lay and Pray". I don't see the ref keeping this on the ground if that is the case, and Tyson is hard to keep down as well. And I give the edge to Tyson just because he is training with Extreme Couture. So he will have a game plan.

* Lightweight bout: Gray Maynard vs. Rich Clementi

Maynard hasn't made that much of an impression on me. I can't remember too much detail about his fights. Just that they were decent 3 rounders. But I like Rich, he's entertaining. I think Rich will take this via submission.

Preliminary card

* Middleweight bout: Thales Leites vs. Drew McFedries

I really don't see this going to decision so I think Leites will take this fight by submission.

* Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Shannon Gugerty

Another favorite fighter of mine, Spencer Fisher. Shannon isn't going to want to stand with Fisher. But I don't think he'll have any chance at submitting Fisher if he can take this to the ground. I am thinking Fisher by TKO.

* Middleweight bout: Matt Horwich vs. Dan Miller

I haven't seen enough of these two to make a prediction I feel solid about. But I am going to go with Miller via submission.

* Lightweight bout: Hermes Franca vs. Marcus Aurelio

I just think Hermes' time has passed. I am looking at this record and I don't know how his last fight won fight of the night, I thought it wasn't that great. Marcus seems kind of hot and cold. But I'll go out on a limb with Aurelio via split decision.

* Welterweight bout: Josh Burkman vs. Pete Sell

I am thinking Josh being 3 pounds overweight at the weigh in will play some part mentally. Pete Sell is coming off 3 losses. I just think he is going to want it more. So I'll say Sell via decision.

Didn't see it but I heard the Main Event was lousy. Silva mugging and running around, then Cote going down with a knee injury. Sounds like it was bad for everyone involved. I'm surprised that Silva would act that way.

The main event kinda sucked, but the rest of the fights were quite entertaining. UFC rocks.
