I've been practicing the classic palm with a dollar coin and I've been noticing that after practicing with it, it leaves a big mark that has a very dark red/blue or even black color. So I decided to use a two dollar coin and I no longer had those marks.

My question is does anyone know why the dollar coin leave the marks it does and is it safe?

Thanks Smile

Did you try washing the coin?

I tried using different loonies while I was trying it, and the marks showed for all 4 different loonies I used. I'll try washing the coins.

Thanks

I'll palm all afternoon for you. I've never had a loonie stain. Apparently it's a nickel-bronze alloy; do you have metal allergies?

I have read many places, ( I just cant recall where) and in the coin forum here that this is a common issue for many people. I cant find it with search, but I would ask in the coin section.

Fortunately, I don't have any metal allergies.

I tried searching for it but I just didn't know what to search. I also thought this was more of an off topic rather then a direct question about coin magic. If its the wrong section I will ask a mod to move this.

You might get some answers here, but I think if you posted a new topic in the coin section, you would get some quick replies.

Magnus Eisengrim, it seems you were right and the coins were dirty. After a solid washing I don't have those marks anymore. So far its good and thanks Smile

Excellent. Have fun. I think that the 11-sided design makes the loonies quite nice for palming.
