Sam,
I recently bought this, and may I say that in my opinion, its the best "opener" I have ever used. It gets great reactions. I don't tape up my mouth, but the rest is the same. I perform for both English and Cypriot audiences, so I made up a set of cards written in Greek, it plays great in any language. Chris

Sam,
I have also seen this done and whenever I did, it got killer reactions and a lot of comedy byplay as well. People just can not help to laugh and get glued into you as the performer. They want to know what it is all about and it plays on cureosity so well. People simply will wait glued and focused on you till they know the conclusion. I recall seeing Francis Menotti perform this at a convention a ways back and it really played well. Kyle

When I don't have access to a normal stage with lights and can't do my normal opener I use this and to be honest if it played bigger( larger rooms 500 and up) I would be using it as my main opener! It is that strong and solid of a routine! The best investment I have made in years in magic!

If you want my advice, get yourself the International Edition. It contains the card picture, the "joke card picture," gimmick, and enough blank cards to do the routine. Since I had to make a Japanese version, the International Edition was a no-brainer, but since the cards are blank, you can alter the script to play the routine in your own character.
What I did was print out my messages on my computer's word processor and printer, cut the messages to fit inside the cards, and attached them to the cards using re-positionable glue (to allow for later changes, and as it turns out, I had to make quite a few changes later for various reasons). Oh, one more piece of advice. Once you buy the trick, invest in a deck of plastic, bridge size cards. It doesn't really matter to the trick whether you use bicycle decks or not, so you might as well use something you can wash before putting it in your mouth, and can be used over and over. Bill |
