What type of show are you trying to put together? Are you just wanting to add an illusion to an already to go show or are you looking to build an illusion show? Are you going to be performing for adults or kids? Can you give us a little more information. I know this is not a real new thread but just curious.

Thanks
Steven

Loyal R, and others....

I am Brian Ledbetter.
I understand that I am a relatively unknown builder and that may make you uncomfortable. However, if you'd like to see photos or hear testimonials, I'd be happy to share some with you, as I do quite a bit of building, despite my busy performing schedule.
I think all my clients can tell you a build a sturdy, nice, high quality prop at a very, very fair price.
Again, if you're needing photos or testimonials, don't hesitate to ask.

Best,
Brian

Under 1000$?
Hmm I think you must specify "Large Illusion", what kind of affect that you want. Because there are illusions that can be made under 1000$

I think most of the illusions from Osbourne's Book are under 1000$

You may look for the chair suspention $400 - $900.
You may take a look at magicauction.com for used illusion.
Creative magic have some nice un expansive illusion.
If you have good hands you may buy illusion plans and build it yourself.

I wouldn't recommend making the project too complex, unless you have access to a well-equipped workshop. Building can be a headache, but also quite rewarding as the project takes shape. I'm in the process of building a Zig-Zag and it's all coming together, nicely. Expect everything to cost more and take longer than you initially expected.

If I do build another illusion, anytime soon, it'll probably be a simple sword box, similar to the one in Victory Carton Illusions by U.F. Grant.

NEW WAVE MODERN CABINET
From Paul Osborne. It exist in plan or in book (can't remember which one).
It can be use as a production, a vanish, a Shadow Box,...

I love this old principle because it be be done with very innocent looking props. It can become the Girl from the Refrigerator Box.

I really enjoy also the Victory Carton Illusion as an opener. Put the boxes on a dolly and do it center stage and you have an apparent miracle. I transformed mine into a "built in full view shadow box" and it kills. I put a sheet on the floor, à la DeKolta Chair's newspaper to prove the "no-trap-door" thing. (But hard on angles. Keep it big.)
