John,
Your Eggs are on their way. Remember that these will also hold a real 24" square silk or five 2" sponge balls! Scheme! The brown ones never seem to get to be used as eggs. They don't flash and make great invisible containers. (And who wouldn't rather be "caught" with an egg?) Thank you for waiting. My wagon was really loaded for a while. (I need to go fishing!) For those of you who have the Sanders Egg. Does anyone know what type of paint is used to paint the brown color?
Because I used white stickers and colored them in with a marker. The color of the marker seeped through the sticker and there's a huge marker stain on the egg. After some scrubbing.. the marker ink came off, but the brown color of the egg came off too.. now I can see the white ceramic beneath the brown! Appreciate any help to 'save' my egg.

Let the ink completely dry. Tip: Instead of scrubbing, you could have tried "Go Gone" or a product like it that removes ink from wall marks and such, as well as sticky glue residue. Tip: It is better to spend a few cents on a piece of material at the fabric store, or use an old silk, or buy a cheap silk and spray glue the stickers. Then place the material on the stickers in a haphazard fashion, letting it wrinkle, for a 3D effect. Then cut them out, using the dots a template. Another way is to buy the sticky film that is sold in frabric and craft stores. It comes sandwiched between layers of removable paper. Remove on layer and apply the cloth, now you have a whole sheet to make fake holes out of. Hope you can use these ideas. |

There are some changes in availability of the eggs and Egg Droppers.
For those of you who have seen my show, you know that on stage Sucker Silk to Egg is combined with 20th Century Silk. (Two silks are tied together and held by a spectator. With a third silk, the Sucker Silk to Egg routine is done and the real egg cracked into a glass. Then the missing silk is discovered tied in between the original two silks held by the spectator.) That routine also requires an Egg Dropper. In the Walk-Around Silk to Egg routine, the eggs are literally put into the hands of the spectator at the table. These eggs are that convincing! (This routine resets and can be repeated at the next table.) This set of props can be used for both routines. Finally, the Walk-Around Silk to Egg set, matching 20th Century Silk (red end silks with blue center silk) and the Egg Dropper are packaged together at a significant savings. It is not available at any magic dealer in the world. It also includes my "I Don't Do Blue Material" routine. Although the Egg Dropper was intended for my Silk to Egg routine, professional magicians around the world use it for everything else too. (Cups and Balls, cards, manipulation, odd shaped productions, and I also use it for can of V-8) There are references to this dropper in several places on The Magic Café. Pros who have them would tell you "Don't leave home without it". The new packaging availability should eliminate the problems of no access to the needed professional level props required for the routines. The egg sets alone are available as before from dealers such as FAB in the USA and Morrissey in Canada. (The packaging and instructions should be authentic with the DoveLite tm and copyrights.) Enjoy your silk and egg magic. Your questions and suggestions are invited. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Just wondering, how durable are the eggs?
I am sure to be careful not to drop them, but accidents do happen. Anyone dropped one of these eggs before?

Currently the Cody Fisher Egg 2 Silk seems very popular. I love the concept of the "Do as I Do". Having magic happen in the volunteer's hands is priceless. Our paths have not crossed yet, but I look forward to meeting Cody someday and seeing this performed. He has apparently struck gold with this one. Congratulations!
Meanwhile, we are receiving orders for the props to perform this from magicians who are fortunate enough to have Cody's manuscript. They are ordering two sets of the Sucker Silk to Egg and then one extra matching silk. That gives them two ceramic gimmicked eggs and five matching silks. Apparently that is the basic requirement for props for the routine. There is an interesting modification in orders from some top pros who use this routine. (First difference, is that they get the Walk-Around version rather than the Sucker version of the ceramic Silk to Egg sets. That gives them a extra matching ungimmicked egg per set for an extra $5/set. That increases the routine options available with these props at a very small cost.) The two greatest differences in orders from these pros is that they are getting the sets modified with 21" silks rather than the usual 18" silks used. That is a brilliant move! To all the world they are using 24" silks rather than 18" silks for a much grander effect. It appears to be nearly twice the volume of an 18" silk. These eggs easily take the 21" silks, so even for volunteers with no experience stuffing a silk into a gimmick there is no problem. The other difference is that they are getting two Egg Droppers. One, I can easily understand. Without prying into their secrets, apparently they are separating the two real eggs this way. That part is still a mystery to me. But the customer is always right. For all, colors are getting away from the traditional red. There are ten other colors available. I have even sold some white ones for people using brown eggs. We tend to believe that there are no new tricks in magic. That may still be true. But it looks to me like Cody has a routine that is really different and hot. (And pro props can be less than $45. For stage magic that is remarkable.) That keeps magic life exciting. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- The size match with real eggs is USDA Grade A Large eggs. (The most common size at Wal-Mart.) |

OOoohhh! Thanks so much, Bob Sanders! I got my white egg walk around egg-to-silk in the mail, along with egg dropper and 20th Century Silks! They are wonderful in quality and brilliant in color. I cannot say enough about the quality of the eggs!! They look amazing!! Safe to say, I am gonna make some fellow magicians mighty jealous!
Thanks so much, Bob. You 'da man!
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.
