The only positive review (singular...) that I have seen is in the french media here in Montreal, home of Cirque du soleil... It is too bad. I was really hoping the show would be good, but it doesn't look like it is.

Louis,

Was it the review, or the promotion story? There was a review of the actual show in the Journal that was not good.

Very good question Blair! I was wondering for a second there if I had just said something stupid... But, I do have a link to Cyberpresse:
http://www.cyberpresse.ca/arts/spectacle......oite.php

Not exactly a glowing review, but certainly not a bad one.

Have a nice day!

Here are my two cents.... Until one of us goes and sees the show then we can't really say anything negative or pro about the show! Just because the reveiws hate the show doesn't mean much. that's just one person's veiw...I want to hear from a real live magician, actually paying the money, sitting in the seat and watching!!!!
Thanks,
Anthony

Hey Anthony,

There was another thread and I believe there were some "in person" reviews.

Louis, as you say that is not too bad a review. Finally!!!

I've seen it in person with some known Vegas magicians and I'm still confused on what I saw ;-)(we where all speechless but for the wrong reason)

I would agree with you if it were just ONE negative review. Unfortunately, we are seeing a consistent flow of negative reviews and that amounts to much more than just one person's opinion. Having said that, a fellow magician I know recently came back from Las Vegas after seeing the show. He confirmed seeing people leave before the show was over. He confirmed a lack of magical content within the show. And he confirmed the accuracy of the many negative reviews.

We do have to remember, however, that many shows transform themselves in the several months following the official opening. In fact, Cirque's "KA" received quite negative reviews when it initially debuted. It took 6 months of revising but now, it's one of the hottest tickets in town. Knowing the amount of money involved and the creativity of Cirque, I'm not prepared to give up just yet.

Found this on his website from one of his "loyals". It seems more obvious that lay people (including his serous fanatics) are well aware of his editing.

are you KIDDING me?????? Oh I hope you're one of those die hard skeptics.... hmmm..... Well it's well known that Criss' magic isn't for REAL.... so it shouldn't be a surprise that the stage show is going to be less 'believable' as Mindfreak. As my one friend said after being on Mindfreak, and then watching it, it WAS way different and stuff like "wait, it didn't happen like that..."
Don't be too fast to debunk Criss.. he has worked hard for many years and has never done anything live... it's gonna take some time.. a long time. OF COURSE Criss really isn't gonna saw himself in half... DUH!!!!

It's not like this is his first time at the Rodeo. Didn't he do a show for years in Vegas when he was still wearing the 'Paul Stanley from Kiss' make-up on his face?

Wasn't it just a very small wrestling arena of around 200 seats, all financed by his mother?
I believe it was off broadway.

Not to mention that it appears some people here don't know the definition of 'Off Broadway'

Many of my friends here at Universal, Disney, and other production companies, perform both On and Off Broadway .... But you must be the expert. I have no idea Smile

I just read it was at a small wrestling arena .... They have those On Broadway? My mistake!

My remark was not specifically aimed at YOU Slim. I also never claimed to be the expert...once again, a thread where you post info that is above your paygrade.

However, since we're talking about it, I will ask...do you know the definition of Off Broadway?

Off Broadway- A term coined in the 1950s to describe small New York City theatres outside the commercial district and the productions given there.

Off-Off Broadway- An expression coined in the 1960s to distinguish between non-commercial theatre presented in traditionally non-theatrical venues such as coffeehouses, churches, and storefronts from the commercial theatre Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway.
---------

Slim was correct, this was an Off-Broadway production as it was not a commercial play house EVEN though it was in the Times Square area...
