I'm looking for comments/suggestions on a new iPhone trick I wrote. The performer rubs a coin into the iPhone and gets it out with a little shake. Requires iPhone+hands+coin+basic sleight of hand.

I wasn't sure where to post this. I'm fairly new to these forums, but mostly live in the sleight-of-hand areas.

Looks good. The effect resembles a trick Marco Tempest performed on Asian television a couple of years back.

There are beginning to be lots of these kinds of tricks published for video-capable iPods and the iTouch and iPhone. You can type in "ipod magic" and many will come up.

I published a variation on the coin idea in my book "Picture Yourself As a Magician." iPod is placed on your empty hand, a coin materializes and then a coin drops out. This given away with on a DVD with the book.

Best quote from a spectator"I know how he did that,it was sleight of hand"(spectator then sits back looking pleased with himself)

You read my mind! I have an app half finished that will allow you to reveal the card a spectator chooses from a deck.

Vinny, do you have any suggestions for a routine? I'm in the learn-lots-of-tricks phase of becoming a magician, but not quite to the bring it all together phase.

Don't want to stray too far from the thread, but there is a commercial iPod card revelation on the market. You can watch it here:

This one is well done. I think it's from Rich Ferguson.

Can you get that from the app store? It looks like you have to have a jailbroken phone.

These effects would be so great for a college audience. I'm thinking I need to invest in an ITOUCH

I have an iPhone, I bought the app to check it out. The app is a pretty neat idea. martay did a nice job on this programming. You can launch the app, and then put your iPhone to sleep and in your pocket to get ready.

It adds another layer of impromtu nature to it when you take your phone out, and then turn it on right in front of them.

After playing around with it for a bit, I have a vanish that I prefer with it. One nice thing about the iPhone is that it is not a touch screen, it is heat sensitive. So you can toss the quarter onto the iPhone without triggering the program. Let the quarter slide off the phone into your hand. Turn your hand over (using a coin concealment) and "push" the coin into the iPhone. It looks great and very visual.

Here is a YouTube clip

Dan, that is a faaantastic performance of the trick. Would you mind if I posted that on my page with your name (and a website or whatever you would want with it)?

It'll take me a few more watches to figure out each move you did!
